If yours doesn't work there are innumerable threads on here on how to repair it if it is due to a cracked cold solder joint.
If you do buy a new one make sure you get one appropriate for your car, the ones later than 2000 will not work on yours.

I have a '98 and updated the remote receiver ($35.00 with the OEM connector) to a 2002. I then updated the original tire pressure sensors to post 2000 style and bought two new remote fobs on the auction site for $13.50 total. Everything works and the wiring from the 2002 receiver matches the wiring from my '98. Three wires...
