even though this is for my '67, posting here b/c I think this forum may have more relevant experience (and I am also considering same for my '00 vette)
going back and forth on whether to get my '67 vinyl wrapped -- this would be a clear wrap to protect the almost-brand-new paint job.
I just had my '18 trackhawk wrapped for the same purpose, and am generally happy with it -- a few bubbles here and there that I'm still working with the body guy to get rid of. I'm waffling only because the vette is a long-term car that I'll have for a while -- trackhawk is more of a 5-10 year car. Any thoughts on whether the wrap hurts the pain in the long term?
And any recommondations for a decent shop in suffolk county long island?

It it have been freshly painted, give it about 30 days to cure and air out before installing a clear bra on it. I think it's a great idea. I have one on my C5. You can't even see it.
w/bob, especially on the 67..dont do it..just drive the thing
A wrap is not a guarantee you wont get any rock chips, & trying to remove it? 50/50 chance it will come off or 2)youll be needing it stripped/repaint, btdt.

I second looking into ceramic coating. A google search will give you a lot info on the two different options since this isn't a Corvette specific topic.

My experience with a wrap was car that had been wrapped 5 years ago, never garaged, sat out in the weather. It was a bear to remove, about 8 hours of work with a heatgun, and worn out fingertips. No paint damage. I read that it's best to remove wraps within a year or so and they come right off.
I love the ceramic done on my black C-5.
However it's (the coating) has only been on a year and car is garage kept.
I've got clear wrap on the front of my C-7 and seems to work also.
been doing a lot of research out there... the stuff that was out there ten years ago is nothing like the stuff they have today. Allegedly comes off super easy, and looks great. Just had it done on my trackhawk, looks great. Just need a reputable shop to install it on my vette, any suggestions ? (I wouldn't use the guy that did my trackhawk -- worked out fine in the end, but had to bring it back three times and too much drama in between).
In the last few years, the Lexus comes from the factory with "the clear" wrap in several areas....the front hood, splash guards and trunk. Its fine for that car but a Vette?...don't know.
PO of my black Z had a clear bra put on the mirrors, nose area... I've left it on the mirrors and nose past hood seam, but despised the stuff on the hood. It's gone.
I live in a fairly dusty city, even the slightest dust makes the bra and line stand out like crazy.

This is exactly why I didn't do my hood. I only did the bumper up to the panel edge. If you want to do the hood, I recommend doing the entire hood.

Yeah, I did clear vinyl wrap on my trackhawk and wife's srt -- I did the entire truck, except roof. Any amount of dust will show lines in the middle of the hood. if you're going to do it, go all in.
