August 21 is incidentally our anniversary date; we hit 28 years the day our car was born, so wifey takes that as an omen to hang on to it forever (or at least until I'm really old and frazzled enough I can't spell Corvette

The VIN for any given date is the starting VIN on that day. Yours was built middle of the day Aug, 26 based on what I read your VIN to be on your door sticker.

I have never seen 1997 Production information other than 9,752 were built. It is not on the C5 Registry yet all the other years are:

You could check with a dealer and see if they will pull your GMVIS record for your VIN. Could also contact the Corvette Museum and see if they have anything.
