Long story short, beefed up the drivetrain with clutch, tt couplers, brace and C6 axles. Bought a spare 3-rib diff and put it all together. Horrible gear noise right from the start. Got over it and broke in the clutch. Took the diff back out to have new gears put in. Decided f it and put in 4.10's. After break in period got on it this morning and WOW! Good thing the car has a rev limiter because it comes up quick. Drives great and feels like your always in the powerband. Anybody thinking about gears you should get 410's. Feels like a totally different car. Just thought I would share.

Very tempting. Whats involved, link to parts list?
I sourced the all the parts from a few places. Then assembled it altogether with the help of a friend that has all the tools for the process. If you don't know someone with the tools, or who have set up a corvette rear end before, just call Rick at RKT56.
x2 that gear, a 6 spd and 26-27 in tire is about perfect for most performance cars unless the engines run out of breath quick.
Putting anything less than a 3.54 gear in a vette is a joke..but guess the mfrs have their restrictions.

Just from personal experience, I went from 3.27 to 3.73 in my mustang and really wish I hadn't. I love the long gearing of my vette and I don't think I'd ever change it. I'm sure its apples to oranges here, but in the mustang it makes the thing a real PITA to drive unless you're in it to win it. Plus nearly 50mph in first gear is a lot of fun
Side note: OP, you didn't mention headers, are you running stock manifolds? I ask because I'm planning cam only with stock exhaust.

longer gearing is better in boosted cars too... I have c6z 1-3 and zr1 5-6 trans gears and factory 3.42 rear gears, 1st will rap out to 60... I couldn't imagine driving a modded car with short gears, it would be a spin fest and waste 1st and probably 2nd/part or 3rd gear too depending on the tire and power level... it will feel faster though

i also got 4.10's... i was on the fence, but after all the mods i did (fast 102 intake, TF 220 heads), i had no low end power, so everyone kept jumping out on me... ya F that lol so i had to get gears
My previous 2000 FRC had standard gears and I always wanted 3.9s or 4.1. Car had abuilt 402, plenty of power, gears always felt too long especially around the city.
I understand the different ratios in the C5z trans are equivalent to having a 3.9 set of gears in a base car.
My new (to me) 04Z has 4.10s and I FREAKING LOVE THEM. 1-2-3 happens FAST. 6th is around 2000rpm at 70 (iirc) and mileage does take a minor hit. But in a built Vette, who cares? If I wanted mileage I'd have a civic.

I did 4.10's in my mustang and wished i had gone 4.30 or 4.56's. But that was N/A. Boosted i wouldn't have gone so short.
