I try to stay out of the drama but I will admit it can be entertaining, more so than the same repetitive questions that get asked daily around here

Although I also see many repeat questions, I also understand that the repeat questions may be a sign of not knowing how to search, not knowing the right buzz search words, or just plain lazy. But that is OK with me because this forum is extremely helpful in maintaining my C5.

I like the drama, the pettiness, the repeated questions and the smart *** answers on this forum. It brings light into my somewhat drab life.
I also enjoy a nice crotch fungus sometimes. It also brings light into my life when I treat it with Blue Star ointment. I can see the universe in it's entirety during that time! .
This forum is really neat and it sometimes helps me with my 03 C5 vert too!

I Don't enjoy this forum like i use to. There was a time when you would come on here and get a lot of good valuable information. I took a lot of advice and incorporated into my car. There are still a few people that give good sound advice. Others not so much. To many know and are always right. So what if there are repeated questions, if you can help answer. If you can't move on. Some come on here too build their post count with nothing constructive to say. All forums change, some good some not. This one is active but with too much crap. Sorry just one long timer chiming in with my opinion.

He certainly could stir the pot, that's for sure. Seemed to know what he was talking about, though.

What drama? Seems like a busy forum to me, and lots of good folks here with strong opinions. Maybe I'm just not reading enough. I stay away from the off topic and politics/religion areas, pretty much stick to C5 gen and tech, and everything seems pretty good to me.

I agree there are a lot of repetitive questions. In some instances the poster may be too lazy to search. In other instances, they may have tried a search and been unsuccessful. I have learned some of the "shortcuts" now and even how to used the Advanced feature of Search, but when I was first on the site, I made many searches that were unproductive. I also learned from some of the more acerbic responses to be very careful of any question I might need answered, so for the most part, I just searched and searched until I found what I needed. That said, a lot of members are very willing to go ahead and give insight to those that ask - even if it is a repeated question - and to me that's great!
The greater "offense" to me is not the person who asks an often repeated question, but the person who asks a question and gets good answers and then is never seen or heard from again. I know it has to be frustrating to those of you with many years membership in this forum. I've had a few times that I know the basic answer but search and search until I can find good examples, better explanations than I might offer, or even photos/videos, post them and never hear a peep from the author of the question. That's far more frustrating to me than repeated questions. It would be nice to know if this helped, or not. If it helps, I know I'm on the right track trying to answer the type of question. If it doesn't work, I then know I have to learn more about the subject before answering that general question again.
I enjoy this forum and the members, especially those that I've actually been able to meet in person. I enjoy the overall sense of camaraderie among the membership and I have learned a lot about the LS engines and the trans-axle - both new worlds to me.
My only problem is every day I see a new set of wheels I want, a different rear spoiler, a better splitter, nicer interior, and on and on. Fortunately, I'm not totally broke because my wife is very frugal with the allowance she provides me. And I've learned Quid Pro Quo: "Here, hon, is a nice bracelet I bought for you. Now, while you try it on I'm going to run down to the stereo store and buy a radio for my new double din."

What Route99 said (well put!). I have absolutely no history on this forum except for the past year, but used the vintage mustang forum religiously in previous years as my boys and i restored 2 stangs. Absolutely invaluable. Same on that forum tho-some got tired of seeing the squeeking upper control arm question for the millionth time and had to vent their frustration. I know when i was a newb, man i asked some stupid questions that a simple google search would have found. But, remembering back when we first got our 66 and the gas gauge puked, it was like my arm was cut off and i was desperate-totally freaking out and needed an answer yesterday and through some kind guidance we learned to both fix the rustang and be a little better and using the forum. Eventually everyone learns just to chill out I think and like in life, you get to know who to listen to and know who to politely ignore (hopefully). I have pretty much been very impressed with the responses here on the vette forum, and honestly i'm glad i made the switch to a corvette. Puts a smile on my face every time i step on the gas, go for a drive, put it in the garage, and then DON'T have to work on it for 3 hours before the next drive!!!
jp
ps-thanks to all of you who are hanging in there with us newbs

I block people I find to be rude and dumb, and the guy that just left was one of them. Definitely helps reduce the amount of conflicts I see/get into.

I agree, but will add this....the C5 platform was in production for 7 years, and has now been out of production for 14 years. Most of the inherent problems that these cars are know for, have been experienced by many of us in the past, have been resolved in the past, and fully discussed here. Therefore there isn't very much that's "new". So in that respect, A) what else is there to talk about; and B) the often overlooked search function becomes more important.

Having said that, let me pose the question, how many times do we want to talk about replacement batteries or replacement tires? I joined this Forum 17 years ago, and those two discussions were very prevalent then, and still seem to come up quite regularly, now. I would think that by this point in time, those discussions would have died out. And yes, I'm FULLY AWARE that I can simply ignore them, which I usually do....
