I am fighting a new rattle in my '99 C5, all stock, with 70K miles. I have done exhaustive searching
this forum and see no such similar noise. I know what it is not. It is not exhaust system, rear latch, speaker grill, power train etc. My noise is in the rear passenger underside of the vehicle.
It sounds like plastic on plastic but is very audible on rough roads and has a sympathetic resonance @3500-4000 RPM.
I think it may be coming from the fuel line pressure relief lines or relief valve but adding deadening foam to these components
has only slightly reduced the noise. Anyone had this?
Check all your compartments in the back, exhaust system, seat belts including the mount. Sound is a traveler. My dashboard rattle ended up to be misadjusted hood bumpers.

I had a rattle that sounded like it was in the dash which drove me nuts. Took awhile to find it. Turned out to be the thumb button on my e-brake handle was making the noise!!
