first step was to clean the surface, I used Lacquer thinner very sparingly,(body man might not use) then sanded starting with 340 grit,up to 1000, filled the chip with "fill in glaze", then just added one fine coat at a time (no primer) did about 6-7 coats to cover. (just feathered it over much of the fender) did a light sand with 1000 grit then same process with the clear coat. using a spray can you can't get a perfect finish, so I did a light sand with 1500 grit. then used Chadwick's paint correction to end the job !!!!! the paint from the link I posted matches very well, have used their paint a 4 cars/trucks !!!!
Did you use their spray can (hard to tell from the way you wrote it) or did you use their "brush-in bottle" or their paint pen? https://www.automotivetouchup.com/products.aspx
And in your original post you say "do not tape it off, just feather it in" ...what did you mean by this? Wouldn't you need to tape it off to prevent overspray on the surrounding areas, or does the paint blend better with the surrounding areas when you don't tape it off and create sharp lines between old and new paint?

Yes !! I taped it off the first time and left a line I could not hide,watched e video on u-tube, said to feather it in with several coats !!!
