anyone know anything about this C5Z
I'm looking for my 1st vette and have found what appears to be a nice C5Z that is priced really good. Maybe too good? I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know about this 2003 Z06 in Iowa City, IA?

I'm about 6 hours away and I'm really tempted to buy a plane ticket and drive it home if it all checks out. I've been texting the owner and he claims it is a 2 owner, no accident, mostly stock vehicle. 61,500 miles and asking $15k. Supposedly he is moving and doesn't want to take the car. Let me know!

I would get the VIN and run a carfax to make sure of the history and then start dealing. That price is not over the top cheap, but prolly about right for someone wanting to move a Z fairly quickly. What condition is it in, exterior, interior, motor, paint, etc.. What mods have been done? Does it have any issues currently? Throwing any codes? What are the date codes on the tires? (That one can cost you some money if they are old tires and not safe to drive either.)

The ad doesn't have any real description and there is just the one picture and that is a cheap price, could be a good deal or could be a scam. Get the VIN.
Here is a site that will give you most of what is on a Carfax but is free : https://www.vehiclehistory.com/

That car's market value is around $20k. For $15k it's a steal if truly clean titled, no accidents, and no major flaws.

Thank you for the quick responses. Yes, I will definitely get CARFAX if I get the go ahead from my wife. I forgot to mention the most important thing - the known flaws. Seller said, "Traction control needs fixed. Also a small blemish on front bumper from a drive through car wash." He also stated he could get me the codes that the light is throwing. Said tires have 7k on them (although I didin't inquire about a date code). The only non factory item supposedly are the floor mats.

Why not make a post in the Great Lakes section and see if someone local to the car can take a look at it for you? At least you would have some additional feedback before you go and buy a plane ticket and possibly be disappointed. I’ve done an inspection three times for other forum members so perhaps someone in Iowa would do it for you.

It's also relatively easy to sniff out a scammer. If they are insistent on getting some sort of amount of money out of you up front before you can look at car, etc. run like hell. If you can actually talk to the owner and ask the right questions you will be able to determine pretty fast if it's a scammer. Just ask the right questions and find somebody to inspect the car for you and if all legit then I would say very good deal.

The write up is odd (vague, like a guy writing a column, no real notes about car), definitely only buy in person. See if someone local to it can do a quick confirmation first.

It's to good to be true, any Corvette owner would go into greater detail describing the vehicle. Just sounds like he's not trying real hard to sell. Be cautious. I would

~69,000 miles and asking $15k. CARFAX came back clear according to a buddy who works at a local dealership. Seller has gone silent the past 14 hours..... Thinking it could be sold.
One way tickets are $248 at the moment.
edit - seller has responded, still available
