Default Another "what is this"...

While changing DRLs I found this down in the bumper bottom. Anyone know where it goes?

Bottom, sorry it's blurry.

That is the cover that goes on the side of the headlight bezel. Open up your headlights and on the side of the black bezel that surrounds the light you will see either the opening where that cover went or a similar cover if it had been replaced. It just locks in place with some tabs.

After having two of them fly off my previous car, one of the first things I did to my current car was take some clear RTV and apply a bead around those stupid covers. Now they aren't going anywhere. LOL

Good advice . . . I’m doing that to mine too before they disappear. Thanks!

There were two styles of these covers made - one for the '97-00 models and it was changed for the '01 (I believe) and newer C5s. The old covers just pressed in place and it was common for the cover to eventually just fly off the car. GM made the second version with some locking tabs (thus the slot to use a screwdriver/coin) to lock them in place. Only drawback is with the newer version, you had to buy the bezel too. But I never have had the cover come off of the newer version. I did not have to use any silicone to keep it on.
