Who uses their C5 for trips?
While cruising home from Indianapolis I thought about how fantastic these Vettes are. Here was my wife and myself running with traffic at 75-80 mph in a 2001 convertible and it feels like a new car. We’ve done this trip of 1620 miles round trip six times already with the Vette and it’s just puts a smile on my face. At 75 mph I scan the gauges and the DIC...oil pressure @ 43lbs, water temp @ 194, voltage @ 14.1, trans @ 199*, tach @ 2150, the AC on and CD player giving me a tempo. Hour after hour. Have to get around some rolling roadblock in the left lane, no problem. I’m 6’ and 215 and the sport seats are like a lounge chair. With over 71000 miles on her she is our trip wheels.
Who else here takes trips with their Vette and what do you like about you pride and joy?

I’ve run mine since 2000 and now have close to 250,000 miles in it. I’ve done numerous 500 mile trips or more without any problems. It’s fun to drive.

I drive my Z06 all the time. If the Vette can carry what is needed for the trip, it is the vehicle of choice.
Did a trip to Florida from Michigan. The only thing the car needed was fuel. It turned 280k miles the week after I returned. Runs like a champ. I just wish I was responsible for all of the miles. I bought it with 167k miles.
I find the car to be extremely comfortable for long drive. I'm 6'-2" and 240

Only had mine coming up on 2 months, I drive back and forth to work, around town occasionally for the most part.
We plan on taking it out of town for our anniversary (about a 3 hour drive) and I cant wait.

I have only had this C5Z since April, but I have been trying to do trips:
Northern Ontario, Canada, HWY 11... about 500km (310miles) one way.
Mosport/CTMP IMSA 2018... about 300km (186 miles) one way.
2018 Heat Wave, about 170km (106 miles) one way, pretty straight forward, hood loops FTW. Good for about 100km/h (62 mph).
No damage to the weatherstripping, trim has been re-done with 3M strip caulk & finally leak sealed with a small amount of flowable silicone in the top corners.
She aint pretty, she just looks that way.... (also the door is not fully closed in this shot, because #tired).
Ok fine, these are not 'long' trips...

I have had my 2001 coupe for two and a half years and have taken several long trips with mine and have enjoyed them all. These cars make great road cars with all the room in the back. With the manual I often average 30 mpg. At 80 mph I am only turning about 1675 rpm in 6th.

Not many long trips, as we take the kids if going away. I do drive my Z daily, and today the girls went to a friend's, so we drove around wine tasting in it (a lot of wineries here).

I really haven't taken a long trip with mine since I first bought it (1400 mile trip home), but it was comfortable then and is still comfortable now. Car runs like a top and puts a smile on my face, which is all that counts.

Did someone say Road trip??? Where are we going and when are we leaving. More miles more smiles. Lots of Vet owners like the low miles and are afraid to drive them their choice and it is fine.. It would kill me to go in the garage and see only 200 or 300 miles in a year. Lots of times I will put 100 miles on mine just to get gas, of course I had to make that little gas gauge thingy go down some before I could put some in her.

I drive mine a lot, although I do have my little beater utility Explorer sport for music jobs etc. But I grab the Vette whenever I can, I'll run errands and cross the valley
trips to the VA, we have a weekly cars and coffees too. I been in Vegas for over 10 yrs from the Bay Area. Looking forward to a road trip up through Bishop to Reno then down to Wine Country and SF.. then a cruise south down PCH on the coast to Malibu and back to Boulder City

Starting in South Dakota we've driven to Utah, North Carolina, and Montana each of the last 3 years. This year we're going to Texas. Also lots of trips in state and local area. It's still comfortable even at the end of a trip. What a great car.

My old C4 ZR-1 and now this C5 are the best road trip cars I've ever owned. Comfortable, powerful, long-legged cruising at its best. And now that I've had the C5 properly aligned, it's calm and stable at any speed, and I can run for hours without any issues. I'd give the nod to the ZR-1 just because the seats were better, but otherwise the C5 is a fantastic long distance machine. Love going on trips.

Several years ago I took my 99 convertible along with a friend on an 11 day 4,000 mile round trip from Maryland out to South Dakota to do the Cruising the Black Hills event and to see Mount Rushmore. It was a blast!

My ONLY qualm about taking a long trip with a C-5, is the lack of a spare tire.
