So the wife and I were driving this weekend, enjoying everything about the vert and almost at the same time we looked at each other and said, "she needs to be a little louder". Not that we're trying to annoy the neighbors or anything like that, but we both feel that when we go down the street, anyone within earshot should know, "hey, that's a Vette!" We're embarassed to say our neighbors LSx equipped SUV sounds more aggressive! So with that in mind, and not looking to go too deeper into hock, what can you suggest? I've seen the 'bypass mod' on several cars and that seems like a low-buck improvement. Is it that good? Are there any aftermarket systems we should consider? The wife keeps mentioning wanting larger outlet tips too since she saw the back end of a 2017 Z06. I'm not interested in doing headers, new x-over, or replacing the whole exhaust system, so, bolt-on over the axle system solutions would be best. Would Z06 mufflers, be louder? Thoughts?
Thanks!

The bypass mod will give you a louder exhaust note, but whether or not it will be loud enough for you - only you can say.
B&B and Corsa both make catback systems that will give you a loud, aggressive sound. Check the parts for sale section and you might be able to pick a system up for a good price.

Jack, you forgot to mention that it will also give you a splitting headache from the drone at highway speeds if he goes with the B&B's
PRTs have been on my car for over 18 years and I have never gotten a headache at any speed. If you owned them and they had a drone something was not right.
Full longtube headers with cats too a Z06 exhaust system. Extra power, very nice sounding when you want it, yet only slightly loud when cruising. No drone either.
Ive done a 1.75 exhaust bypass mod on mine and its virtually silent with the radio on cruising, but after taking a few videos/walking around outside with it idling Ive realized its pretty loud for such a simple mod.
I say remove your mufflers yourself and have the bypass welded in, if you decide you dont like it you sell it for the money you spent on the welding (or more) and go buy something you want.
I just had Corsa extremes with the 4" tips put on my car. The bigger tips look great and my car sounds great, no drone, but smash the gas pedal and here comes the roar. I don't even listen to the radio now, just the sounds from my pipes. Borla xpipe just got delivered ready to have it installed. My .02 cents.
I'm on the other side of the coin from everyone else it seems. I absolutely hate loud exhausts. On the track - fine - but on the street? To each their own but it's not for me. You can't legally use the power they have stock anyhow.
Now, that said I did put a Z06 TI Catback on my 2003 coupe. At cruising speeds it's hardly even noticeable but when I throttle up or downshift you definitely know I'm there. Under spirited acceleration you DEFINITELY know it's there.
Modded Ti is absolutely the best all around exhaust system I've ever installed on a C5Z. Shy of something truly dual mode, i don't think it gets any better. Completely quiet in the car, no drone whatsoever, but yet sounds extremely aggressive outside and at wide opened throttle.
