I'm sure this has been asked a bajillion times, so I apologize in advance...but i have learned to live with the CAGS on my "04. Problem is, I want to teach my daughter how to drive a stick, and it would be way easier if the shifter didn't try to fight her.
qould enabling competion mode disable the CAGS? We'll be putting around an empty parking lot, so safety concerns are nonexistent.
Same as others. .. don't get why you've "learned to live with it". Obviously you don't like it, it's more difficult to teach with... spend $25 and 25 minutes (20 of which is getting the car on ramps).
i never had a problem with the stock set up when my son learned to stick shift. most people struggle with stalling the car when learning the clutch , but the car is so powerful this main stumbling block was never an issue. I seem to be unique in that the CAGS never gets in my way , except on some rare left turn situations, where I need to plan ahead.
Install the CAGS eliminator.. It is well worth it. Just FYI, when you install it, the "Shift 1-4" light will still illuminate, but you just ignore it obviously and go about your business.
The night I took delivery, I had the Sales Manager take the AE back into the shop and put it on a lift.
The technician could NOT install it, so I did, but he zip-tied the wiring and put electrical tape as a security measure. They knew exactly how to take care of me.
