looks like these are from Corvette Mods, from their website. i an guessing this is just marketing though and does not really address any fitment issues.
One of the newest lighting mods on the market, our LED projector lights shine a bright and colorful C6 Logo display on the location of your choice. Activated by a 12v source, you can install these under your doors, between your exhaust tips or even in your garage to shine on the wall.

I put these in on a buddy's Dodge Challenger. They do look nice at night when opening the door. This requires removing the door panel and drilling a hole for the light in the bottom of the panel. The lights came with a hole saw the size of the bezel and it is held in with a nut inside the panel. Then all that is required is to find the wiring that activates when the door is opened and shuts off when closed. All of the wiring was in the door. These are available on auction sites and I bought a pair for my Lexus that were plug and play as the fixture was already there.
"Proper" puddle lights are in the lower part of the door mirrors and come on when you hit the unlock button on your fob, so you can approach the car in the dark without stepping into that puddle. Doable on a C5, but quite a task properly integrating with the existing locking and "approach" lighting systems. And since many on here never go out in the rain apparently, it seems a bit unnecessary.
Assuming this thread is active, those lights do nothing unless it’s fully dark. They provide little assistance like a true puddle light and I found them to be fragile as well. There’s not electricity in the door that I know of and I’ve electrified the door reflectors AND added puddle lights to both of my C5’s and had to get power from the foot well lights.

This is the answer I was looking for. Thanks! I don't know if these lites are worth the effort. I may just send them back.
Sorry about the double post. Will be more careful in the future.
