Default Weather strip question

I need to replace the weather strips that the driver and passenger side window seal against. Any idea what they are called. It’s not the door weather strips. It’s a 2000 coupe

Do a search on Google for C5 Corvette Targa Top Weather Strip and you should get quite a few places that buy them. I think they call them side seals or something like that. If I recall correctly also, it's best to buy factory GM seals as the aftermarket isn't quite as good quality. I could be wrong though.

Also, once you get the new seals installed, GM makes a treatment for the seals that you can apply that makes them stay pliable longer...you can probably also find that by doing a search on this site...

I'm assuming the weather strip you are looking for are called outer window seals. To be honest with you I purchased a pair from Corvette America and they are identical to the OEM seals. Not to mention it was a hell of a lot cheaper. I think I paid 100 bucks for the pair. Been on the car over 2 years without a problem. As for the " SPECIAL TREAMENT" that you have to go to GM to buy, don't waste your money. Go to your local NAPA Auto Parts store and pick up a tube of Sil-Glyde. Been using it for years. The stuff works great and keeps the weather stripping soft and pliable. The best part is, if I remember correctly I paid 7 bucks for the tuba the stuff.

I think you're describing the 'upper weather strip', GM 10313371 (r/H) and 10313370 (l/h). gmpartsdirect gets $280 each for them. Yes, that's $280. Each. Plus shipping. Plus installation. I kind of need them as well, but have been put off a bit by the $600 plus installation. If you google the part numbers, you'll find a number of sellers and prices. If you search this forum, you'll find a considerable number of threads indicating the aftermarket versions don't work nearly as well as OEM. Unfortunately.

That's ridiculous for a couple pieces of rubber, but what they hey, they don't call it a Corvette tax for nothing...

Looking for weatherstripping myself last week for our '01, here's a good site to find the GM p/n's of which piece(s) you need: https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.c...roduct=2572283

Next issue was finding the parts themselves, this site indicated they had what I needed, let me place the order only to be told 24 hours later the parts were obsolete and would not be available. So I called Eckler, gave them the GM p/n's I needed, they had a few in stock, received and installed them this week, good quality and fit perfectly. Hope that helps.

I would only buy oem on those.

Ive purchased several sets of aftermarket seals from various vendors and the repros are very squishy at the ends and they have almost always leaked. Seems like the ends of the oem are injected with material so they have more firmness. Not super hard just more firm giving it some backbone where aftermarkets are like noodles.

Your call, but from my experience I’d get OEM or find a replacement used top altogether.

I'm right there with you. Bought the rear targa seal from gm, the side seals from steele, and now I dont know where to get the front one.
