A lot depends on how well the maintenance was done, how the car has been driven, etc. If it is running fine and has been maintained, you could get many more miles from the tranny. But as with anything mechanical, you just never know when a problem may arise.
The transmission in my 97 Tahoe was replaced at 120k. The trucks are a lot heavier than a Vette, so unless it had been abused I would expect it to go longer in the Vette.
Mine has 124K on it and is still going strong. I changed the oil at about 114K and it looked good, no metal or any debris in the pan. I am not sure if the previous owners had changed the trany fluid or not. As far as Tahoe's I had an 04 and the trany went at almost 190k and I'm sure it had never been changed. Best of luck and I wouldn't worry about it to much, Life is to short.
its a 4l60e so you could literally look at it wrong and break it lol... but yeah if you dont beat the crap out of it and your not letting it downshift itself out of overdrive at WOT you should be fine
Not to mix apples and oranges here, but what have you guys noticed the longevity of the T56 manual tranny? I had to rebuild mine at 86K and the Viper's T56 ate itself at 89K.
Oh my.... Must I be concerned about a C5 broken transmission with 42,000 miles?.... My 88 Carrara at 265,000 miles is the same transmission and never been out... How many miles should be expected for a A?
