Default Bolt on mods

My C5 is basically stock;

No headers, nothing beyond;

Cold Air Dam Intake System
Borla straight through cat back system.

Does anybody think that they add any HP?
Ecklers says that they add 100 HP, so it must be true.

Are you asking whether the cold air intake and Borla exhaust add horsepower, or are you asking whether additional mods add horsepower?

Just asking if this stuff maybe did anything beyond better sound.

Just from reading other people's threads with similar questions, I would say nope...maybe 10hp.

100 hp bolt-on. Sounds like a supercharger. Or you could bolt on some extreme heads, intake, headers, throttle body, high compression pistons, bored out block, tune. There are ways to "bolt on" parts and get 100 hp. I would say you have about 90 hp to go before you hit your goal.

I did long TSP long tubes with catted x pipe, vararam cold air, and an email ECS tune and it REALLY woke the car up.

Of course it did something. It emptied the wallet of the purchaser and made their vehicle SPECIAL, unlike the boring factory delivered type! It also helped the economy (likely of China) and competitors of JC Whitney.

Those mods did not come anywhere close to adding 100 hp. Maybe move the decimal point one place to the left.

Are you asking if ANY bolt ons actually make power over stock?

Base ls1 cars seem to make 45~ extra whp with an ls6 intake headers exhaust and cai tuned

Looking at dynos around the forums 50whp +/-15 seems to be the norm of external bolt ons whether its an ls1 or ls6

Theres dynos all over these forums of cars with cai/catbacks making 20-30 extra? But it seems headers and an ls6 intake is what really opens these cars up

Throttle response and gas mileage are also perks of them being done.
