Winter nap!
Well it is that time of year again for us up in northern Minnesota to put the "Corvette" to bed for the winter. I will miss it but, at least it will give me something to look forward to in the spring. Happy motoring all!

Wow, pretty early for winter storage, but living that far north I can understand. I hope to wait until around December 1st to put mine away.

Proof Positive- Snow Proof
Late last winter my wife and I had planned a drive to the Corvette museum in Bowling Green. The weather looked like it would cooperate- however, the rain in Bowling Green turned to snow on our return trip back to the Chicago suburbs and we ended up running into a band of heavy snowfall on each side of Indianapolis- a reported 5" of snowfall. The new BF Goodrich A/S tires did their job and kept us on the road while we saw several SUVs that had skidded off the highway. We've got four cars, so I am debating whether I will pull the battery and put the Corvette under cover this winter, or continue to drive it on the nice winter days. It's a +17 year old car, with over 106,000 miles on it (I put 9,000 miles on it since buying it last December)- I'm 59 and asking myself, why did I buy the car if not to drive it, and who am I saving it for? So I am inclined to drive it on the nice winter days. Life is short. Photos below: me and my 01, 6M at the Corvette Museum, my wife just as the snow started falling in Indiana, the BF Goodrich tires I had mounted just days before our trip.

no snow/salt yet here in S.E. Michigan, but I need to get my Monte into the trailer so I can move the vette over to the single stall for some projects this winter and give my gal her winter parking spot in the garage

Sometimes I ask myself why I retired instead of taking the company's transfer to Madison, WI and then these poignant thoughts remind me.
Not perfect weather here in Western NC, but we can still get the cars out parts of every month; especially if we all have wdcraig's attitude of " why did I buy the car if not to drive it, and who am I saving it for?".
Of course, it is a great time to get work done to your ride without the feeling that you are missing good driving weather while you do your work.
For those who have to park; here's to an early spring!

I usually give up around late November. Once that first snow falls, the roads will be salted till March! Lot's of plans for mine over the winter though, so it's not all bad when the time comes.

Getting close to that time of the year for me as well. I usually put the toy(s) away before heading off to the SEMA show which is typically at the end of this month.
Unfortunately I had to put the Corvette into hibernation early this year due to a failure in the clutch hydraulic circuit last week. I am still pissed about that big time since everything was installed new 12K miles ago. I need to get her up in the air in hopes of diagnosing the issue, even though I may wait until next spring to fix what ever the problem turns out to be.

Wow, I don't plan to store mine for another month or so. No reason to store it until we see consistent temps below freezing and snow. I would like to keep driving it for a bit, but this rain we've been having is for the birds.

My last seven Corvettes were stored inside during the long winters I had while living in Vermont. Now the vert stays at my winter home in SW Florida and I take my Ram Hemi when I go north for the summer to avoid hurricane season. I have to be one of the few Corvette owners that actually store their car for the summer months. With my summer lakefront home being on an unpaved road it never seems worth bringing the vert on a 1700 mile trip each way. My length of stay in Vermont gets shorter every year after 16 years of retirement doing the snowbird thing.

There was snow on the windshield this morning, 25 miles north of Buffalo, NY. Old man winter is getting ready to pounce! The Vette will come out on nice days until the first heavy salting of the roads, then she will be asleep until spring rains clean the salt off of the roads!
