I've had my C5 vert five years and decided to change the coolant today (56,000 miles). Did a search on this site and determined the search feature is useless so I went to Google and got the information I needed. It actually does a better job searching this site. While doing the fluid change I looked at the hoses and they seem ok but they are 16 years old. How many folks still have the original coolant hoses on their C5? IS there a recommended life on these parts or run to fail?

I've had my coupe 5 years also . I changed all hoses last year not knowing how old they actually were . They seemed fine also , but the upper hose seemed a little soft when hot .

I changed mine for peace of mind. One less thing to worry about.

I still have the original coolant hoses on my '03. One of my projects this winter, if I still have the car, will be to replace all the coolant hoses (I believe there are around 8 in total).

All still original hoses on my 03 10,600 miles, the lower hose is squishy so that will be one of my winter projects. I did coolant change in 2011.

I replaced my hoses shortly after buying my car, along with replacing the clamps. I had no history on when Dex-Cool was serviced so I figured it was good to do. Since I drained the coolant out through the lower hose anyways I just went further and removed them both. I bought them from Cultrag which has both the upper and lower hoses for a really good price with quick shipping.

The remainder of the hoses you can simply check.

One hose that's often overlooked is the overfill hose from the reservoir tank. It goes out into a U and under the radiator shroud. Stock there is supposed to be a little rubber grommet that attaches to the radiator shroud. It often rattles off and is lost; I've only seen a handful of C5s that still have them on. The hose will be allowed to contact the shroud and will eventually wear a gouge into it.

I went with Mishimoto silicon about a year ago. More expensive than the OEM, but they appear to last forever. My son has used them on 1,000+ hp Honda race engines for years and never had a failure so I figured they would last fine for our C5.

Driving on 16 year old hoses or 16 year old tires is a bad gamble. Its a little like why do I need an LMC5? Not having any problems.

I have not seen or handled any silicone hoses, so not sure if I would use them, so as of right now I will be using stock.

My ‘01 has a delivery date of Aug 2000.
120k miles later....AFAIK/can recall, all my hoses except the coolant overflow return line (which didn’t need to be replaced, but I was trying to isolate a leak) are original.
