Default BB Bullets or Borla Stingers

Hey All,

I am trying to decide on which exhaust to go with. I feel like I have searched hours on YouTube for different exhaust clips, but I am specifically looking for cars with LT's, ORX, and a cam of some sort. I love the way Corsa Xtremes sound but they are a little more than I want to spend on an axle back. I would love to hear anyones opinions of these and post up sound clips if possible.

Thanks!

Can’t help you with any review or soundclip of those two exhaust systems, but before you buy, you may want to post a Wanted to Buy thread for some Corsa Extremes. I only say that because you say you really like them.

I strongly suggest the knock-off Stingers made by Mid-America Motorworks.

They are much less “blatty” sounding in the low RPMs than stingers and more crisp sounding all around. Cheaper too.

I’ve heard Borlas and these on several (dozens) other cars, same differences as mentioned. If you decide on Stingers, go for the Midamerica knockoffs.

Put an ad in for used Corsa Extremes. Some guys buy them and decide they are too loud so sell them slightly used. Beware drone.

Thank you everyone for your input, I have been looking for a decent price on some Xtremes, but they don't seem to come up that often. I have seen sets of new Stingers and Bullets (Single tips) in the $600-$700 range and wanted to know everyones thoughts between the two.

My current set up is LG Pro LTs, LG ORX, and Ti Axle back. The stock Ti, is just not loud enough for me. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two if I don't go with Corsa's? I know there is drone with both of these, but that does not seem to bother me. Sounds clips would be great if anyone is running a similar set up.

Thanks!

I had BB Bullets on my cammed FRC with longtubes and O/R X-Pipe. Hands down the best sending exhaust setup. Only problem, it's loud! Too loud for my neighborhood and unwanted attention. The drone is bad too. I swapped out the Bullets for the Z06 Ti axle back, and you are correct...way too quiet. I'd like to find some middle ground.

Here are a couple vids of my C5 with the Bullets. Loved it.

FR-CYA --- Yes, I agree that Ti axle back is too quiet and wimpy. A decent middle ground (replaced the Ti on my supercharged 2000 coupe with these) is the Borla S-Type II. A little louder than the S-Type II is the straight pipe with Borla XS mufflers on my 1998 Coupe with 408 stroker engine.

Between the BB Bullets and the Borla Stingers, I much prefer the sound of Bullets.

I recently removed my Ti and installed brand new set Borla Stingers. I have headers and with the stingers it is loud. I stored the Ti’s away for now. I asked the wife what she thought. Says it sounds good. When you are cruising depending where you have your rpm’s it is not bad. Just loud when you get on it. We will see how long this last till I put my Ti’s back on.

For the least amount of $$, you should get your Ti catback modified with a bypass pipe. Same exotic sound, but alot more of it.

A great balance we found was the Billy Boat PRT exhaust. Not quite as loud as the Bullet at start up and idle, but still noticeable and definitely louder than the Ti. Good sound when accelerating but we have had no drone at any cruise from 45-80mph. Best of both worlds for us.

Had borla stingers back in the day and they droned right in the 1500 6th gear cruising range...awful

Sold them for Corsa pace car/Indy and couldn't be happier

The borla drone was terrible

I probably listened to a hundred or so sound clips on You Tube and several C5's at local car shows before narrowing down my choice down to 2 systems, the Billy Boat Bullets and Corsa Extremes. Both sound awesome, but the Bullets have too much drone at certain rpms. If you don't mind the drone the Bullets have a nice deep tone that's similar to the old school small blocks with the exception of the LS firing order which makes that motor boat sound. The Extremes sound a little more exotic, but have no drone and really sound nice when you open the engine up. Another plus with the Extremes is they sound even better with LT's and a cam. One thing worth mentioning about the Extremes is they do have deceleration popping and a slight pop between upshifts even with the x-pipe which I love, but it's not for everyone.

I had BB Bullets installed on my C5 Vert and boy o boy did they sound awesome...

True story - I attended a car show, where they offered a trophy for the "loudest" car - I came in 2nd behind a MONSTER TRUCK...let me say that again...I came in 2nd behind a Monster Truck... That should tell you how awesome they are...

Installed this on my 02 Vert about a month ago like the tone very much, only done a 2 hour drive since install but no issue with the “Drone” wife and I can talk and listen to the radio with out issue at highway speeds. Installed it myself in my storage unit took me about 2 hours.

My vote is for B&B - I've had 3 different Vettes all with B&B and the one that had the Borlas (C4) went to the B&Bs as soon as I got a deal on a used set.

I presently have the B&B PRT on my C5Z and I would love bullets but Im going to do headers first and see where the sound is before I try and move to bullets
