You fuel gauge's reading is determined by the position of the float attached to your fuel pump assembly (you have two tanks split in the middle with a crossover). You can't really just go off of it in such a incredibly short period of driving because sloshing the car around probably just pushed the fuel to points of pushing the float upwards = gas reading anomaly.
I'd just fill up the car and be done with it.
Also drive your car more. Stored cars are sad cars.
Put some Techron in your tank. It is magic and solves problems with chemical deposits on the gauge float assembly. It corrected my problem and I add a bottle every six months, you should too.

I agree with all the above. Gas sloshing around in the tank can temporarily cause the gauge to fluctuate. It is also a good idea to use Techron about twice a year to keep the fuel sensor clean.
Just add the Techron and go ahead and fill up your tank.
did the techron last time i put gas in , last october , and intend to next fill up . thanks for the replies and for not chastising me for not driving more . every year i say '' gonna drive the vettes more this year'' but it never happens . . . . peace
Here's another for Techron. I put it in my tank every 3rd or 4th fill up in the summer. Get it when it's on sale at Auto Zone. The c-5s are known to have goofy gas tank problems.
This may be helpful info considering your original question. The excerpt below is from : https://www.z06vette.com/forums/f5/h...m-works-60056/ (which was a copy/paste from corvetteforum anyway... I just forgot where it was and googled it for you)
"This estimating strategy and the physical layout of the system results in an unusual fuel gauge characteristic that may be noticeable to some people. When the fuel level is at or near half tank, the right hand tank is empty and the left hand tank is full, so the system is estimating the actual fuel level. Because of the siphoning system, when the car sets without running, the fuel level equalizes in the two tanks. When the car is first started, the system is actually reading the fuel level in both the right and left hand tanks. After running for several minutes, the fuel in the right hand tank has been transferred to the left hand tank, leaving the right hand tank empty and the left hand tank full. The change in the fuel levels results in the system changing from reading the actual fuel level to estimating the fuel level. This change results in the fuel gauge reading actually indicating more fuel than when the car was first started. "
