Default That Annoying Sta-Bil Bottle

Is it just me? Am I an idiot? (Don't answer that!) Am I just an old dumb fart? But ...

... WHY is it so damn hard to put an 8-oz. bottle of Sta-Bil into my 03Z's gas tank? I can never get all the Sta-Bil into the main part of its bottle and the spout isn't long enough to push open the filler neck flapper.

I tried using a funnel, but that drips Sta-Bil down over the quarter panel. So, I dump the Sta-Bil into a clean, empty, plastic, 16-oz. salad dressing bottle, push the flapper open with a pencil, and dump in the Sta-Bil. No sweat.

Do you guys have trouble with these Sta-Bil bottles or am I just an idiot? NOW you can answer that!

Thanks!

Irritatedly,

Dave

Yep, reminder to self; buy small long funnel at Canadian Tire when getting Sta-bil tonight. Ah, memories of last year...

It's easier to stick it in a gallon of gas and dump the whole gallon in. Or just move down here to Florida where we don't have to put it in our cars!

I feel your pain. I just did mine today and had to find a funnel with a long neck.

Yeah, a longer spout would help and do away with the squeeze function to fill the side reservoir. Just let me dump the product in the tank.

Just weird, I have never had that problem with mine. Maybe Canada gets better designed bottles as part of the USMCA trade deal.

I use the Stabil 360 protection now. It not only keeps gas fresh but is a fuel cleaner.

I used that Lucas product continuously for several years, after ethanol containing gasoline was introduced in my area. Then some of the stations started selling non-ethanol fuel, and I switched over to that.

You are not alone......I cut the bottom off of a Techron bottle to use as a funnel.

I'm happy to see that I'm not alone here. Sta-Bil must have a reason for keeping their bottle design the way it is, but I don't understand it.

That squeeze reservoir REALLY irritates me. Who buys a bottle of Sta-Bil and then uses only 0.5 ounces? Maybe somebody who's stabilizing a half pint of fuel for a remote control model airplane.

For me, I'm sticking with my salad dressing bottle. A little honey mustard in the ol' fuel rails never hurt nothin'!

Personally, I think that given the usage ratio of Sta-Bil to gasoline, it should be sold in something like 6oz. bottles. Buy 2-3 of them. 2 would take care of the cars that get stored, and the 3rd one would take care of the lawn mowers/string trimmers, etc, with no "left-overs".

Sta bil was for lawn mowers, snow blowers and other gas driven devices with small reservoirs

I agree......BUT, then a 16oz. "squeeze bottle" makes even less sense. Given that 2oz. of Sta-Bil is more than enough for most lawn mowers, why would you sell enough product per package, to treat 8 lawn mowers? Is the shelf life of Sta-Bil 6-8 years?

Don’t know why there is a 16oz bottle. Maybe for lawn/snow maintenance companies. Only a guess
