Default Console lid opening
I know that the console lid should open in two segments. Had no problem with my previous C5 but my 2002 is opening only slightly and won't open that second step. I don' t want to break it. Would WD40 on the opening mechanism help or do I need a new mechanism?

I would try the WD40, I purchased a used replacement that was stiff and it's fine now after lubrication.

I lubed mine 3 years ago and it still works like it's suppose to.

Try the WD-40 - the hinge should work much better.

Not a WD fan.
I used a light oil on all the hinge points and it works well. Less messy as well.
