How fast?
The tires are designed for speeds up to 200.
Given wind resistance and all that jazz, the theoretical top end is about 170.
IIRC, at 125, the windows no longer operate (because the pressure change would blow the roof off)
I can tell you from experience the computer is programmed to turn off the engine at 190.
I can also tell you at least once, that programming has failed.
The results were not pretty.
====
It was a top speed run on a dyno.
Car shut down at 192, would not restart.
11 melted/stretched valves.
Because the computer is programmed to shutdown at 190, not 192, it was determined to be computer failure; GM bought me a new engine under warranty.
Douche, jealous, and stupid
My 1991 Talon TsiAWD (older Eclipse's twin) speedometer pegs at 145 mph and I've had it buried MANY times.
I can also attest to the front end of a C5 getting light but I didn't feel it until the 160's. I backed off at 167 mph. Damn near stock 02 manual, 5th gear.

For those who are from the Pocono's area, a bunch of Vettes I was with did a group run of 150-160 on the beginning stretch of I-380 north coming off I-80. It was verified by the first car getting clocked by a police car at 162 mph. The rest got a free pass, he only got a ticket and no jail time. Never will do that again.
Lingenfelter twin turbo C5 (back in 1998 or so) exceeded 200 mph at the Ohio TRC - 226 in fact.
