there are others if you google, It takes custom bodywork, a FRC top donor, extra tonneau cover and latches from a vert put together. You leave the soft top folded down remove original tonneau (4 bolts) install new top and it looks just like a FRC. No permanent change ang changing back would be easy. I will do this someday if I keep my car long term. This looks way better than aftermarkets I've seen pics of.

Could it be done in reverse? Start with a FRC and add convertible parts?

I would guess this mod would cost big bucks. I would think it would be cheaper to sell your FRC and buy a convertible. Only exception is if you have your FRC heavily modified.

I would totally do this mod (not the store bought conversions) as long as I can go back to vert on good days.

You can go back easily because you don’t touch the factory top, it stays folded down under the conversion. 4 bolts to switch back to the original tonneau cover.

yes, they are are the same top, I’ve seen them for sale, it is something rarely damaged in a wreck.

I can’t remember where but it was pretty cheap, like $300.00 for the top...the expensive part is finding a good shop to make it all fit together. The parts seem like they would be easy to find as any FRC and vert that is totaled will have these parts available In good shape most likely. There is a thread somewhere that I asked lots of questions about this mod from someone who did it. Maybe a google search will find it. If you do it let me know how it works out.

there is a sticky in C5 tech about converting a coup to a vert. I would think a FRC to vert would be easier. It may be covered in that thread? I have not read it in a while.
