Finally After All These Years
Growing up in Detroit and a mile from the GM Tech Center, I got to see alot of the late 60's Muscle Cars driving around, parked in the neighborhood. I remember my next door neighbor bringing home his new '67 GTO. The guy down the street had a '70 Torino 429 SCJ. Trans Am's, Road Runner's, Chevelle's. Another buddy's older brother drove a '70 Hemi Challenger to high school. But the Corvette was always the top tier for me. If not the fastest car around, they styling never disappointed. I didn't get to drive one until 2000 and was blown away. A couple years ago my Engineer buddy from GM had a new Z06 to drive for a couple weeks and we went out for a whole day, me driving the whole time. I vowed then that someday I'd own a Vette.
That day came this Saturday where I picked up a early Christmas present for my wife A 2000 C5 Convertible in pewter with gray leather interior., with a six speed. All original with some nice options including:
Bose stereo
Sport seats
HUD
Polished wheels
Memory Package
Handling Package
Power driver's and passenger seats with Lumbar and side bolsters
It's absolutely gorgeous and drives incredible. Love the torque and the way it pulls going through the gears. In 1983 I had a Cutlass Supreme with a 4 speed and there's just something about a V8 with a 4 speed. I've been a small block Chevy fan forever so the LS1 compliments a similar motor I have in my Inboard Ski boat. Hard to find a better overall motor than a 350 Chevy.
More questions to follow but just wanted to share my enthusiasm.
My wife and I spent the day pinching ourselves and not quite believing we have an actual Corvette in our garage now.

Welcome to the Corvette family! I currently have two C5 coupes (and I previously owned a convertible C5 and a convertible C4), Lots of fun! If you like to travel, consider a visit to the National Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY or a run on the Tail of the Dragon (near the North Carolina-Tennessee Border).

Congrats on the C5. Nothing better than shifting through the gears and no better way to enjoy these cars. Louder exhaust will make it even better.
Great color combo. Black top?
