Sounds like you do have some options available. Too bad most tire manufacturers have decided to stop making Z06 sized tires.

One could, but I wouldn't.
-Z wheels are a fair bit wider, designed for the wider tires.
-Putting on base sizing just feels wrong.
-The Z was designed for a certain performance level. Intentionally down grading the tires (or motor, or tranny, or...) is reducing the performance advantage.
-There appears to be Toyo still available. I currently run the F1 Supercars, but will change the next tire replacement.

Same here. Mine's previous owner went back with the F1's, they have March 2012 date code so I'm going to be in the market pretty soon.

Think the Toyo is a decent tire for the Z? Not sure which is better, the T1 or The Proxes 4.

I bought my z06 size Toyo T1 sports off of simpletire.com
I paid a $556.16 to have them shipped to my local Firestone.
Amazing tire for the price. I have continental extreme contact DW Sport on my other two cars and I do not believe that the Toyo T1 sport is any less tire...
Seems like a no-brainer to me....

The T1. Sounds like a good tire, better than the crazy expensive F1

DW and sport are 2 different tires. I had the DW on the C5 and hated them. They gripped fine...actually straight line traction was awesome. But super soft sidewall felt so bad, I had to take them off and sell for a huge loss, I hated them so much. The T1 sports dont grip quite as well IMO, but overall is a better tire and the obvious choice (if available) for the C5Z sizes. I have the conti sports on a Focus ST and they are a great tire. Tirerack testing I think showed them equivalent/slightly better than the old michelin PSS, but not quite as good as the new PS4S.

At the end of the day I agree T1 S is no brainer for this car/size at stock-400s power levels

Yes you are right, my bad. I have the Sport on my Honda and the DW on my wife's BMW. Neither car has quite as much power to over whelm the tires like the corvette, but the Honda has a lot of suspension/brake work and the handling is pretty ridiculous. I cant complain about the DW tires, I am pretty happy with them (I can/will not push the wifes bmw that hard), but I am very impressed with the sports on the honda (that car gets pushed very hard and getting light headed on long highway on/off ramps is pretty easy with the amount of g's it can pull).
