I believe I may have one of the pilot cars for 1997. The last four of the VIN# is 0099. The vehicle was built in late October 1996. I have the build sheet and dealer invoice for the vehicle. The build sheet , in bold letters has the word "PILOT". It also has 3 stickers on the left side of the radiator cowling that says "GM Campaign " there are some numbers under the Campaign lettering and also has "Inspected by" with some numbers, looks like QC initials possibly. The stickers from what I've read are also an indication that it is a Pilot car. My question is; I'd like to know where I can find any documentation on the vehicle to determine if it is indeed one of the pilot C-5's for 1997. The latest edition of the Black book (19953-2019) says there were some of the early C-5's were pilot and prototypes. I believe there was a posting sometime back, early 2017or early 2018 talking about the 1997 C-5's and that there were only a few documented "Pilot" cars known still in existence. The car is in excellent condition and is mostly original with the exception of the exhaust, which is a Corsa system. I am also only the second owner of the vehicle. If anyone has any information that they would like to share I would really appreciate them contacting me on this forum.
