For what it's worth, I found mine on cargurus. I paid over $20,000...but it's a Z and had just over 24,000 miles on it when I bought it.

I got mine for just under 10 but it has 80 thousand miles on it, I saw it for 9900 and when I read it was one owner with all receipts on all work since new I just bought it. The car machnically is perfect besides the tires are 1/2 spent, cosmetically it has some tiny chips and scrathes in the paint and the carpet needs slight cleaning but other than that the car is a 10. I got real lucky but that comes from looking several times a day for 3 months, I got tired of looking for what I wanted so I just took a great deal and glad I did.

I went and looked at and drove a stick today. It was a magnetic red 2002 with tan interior and tan top and the stock chrome rims.
The stick is a much better driving experience and accellerates much better and is more fun to drive period and my size did not create a problem like I thought it would.
One thing I realize now is you have to see a car in person to truly judge how it looks, I told myself I would not buy a Pewter car and did but the Pewter with the Pewter Magnesuim rims is truly one of the best looking stock C5 combo's they ever sold if not in the top 2 or 3. My car blew it off in the looks department pretty good, Mag Red in tan with the chrome stock rims is just OK and needs different wheels....
I like the car I have but a stick would be much more fun and better MPG....

Safety Car
I never understood why cars look different in person than in pictures and why color makes so much of a difference.
My neighbor has a red one and no one believes that my car is the exact same model year as his even sitting side by side.
Mine is all blacked out.

Burning Brakes
Stick or no stick
Back then I grew up in the muscle car era in the 60s,I had never even seen an Automatic Vette.Everybody had a 4 speed but today is different and I would consider an automatic if I were to buy a C7. I bought my 2003 new and it had to be a 6 speed. The 6 speed saves me from telling people that they can’t take my Vette out for a drive. In my opinion a Vette with a stick is much more fun for me,It’s my therapy it makes me feel good.Thats just me.

There are certain reasons to have a auto but it better be a good one or you are a ? well you know, like in it's well worth a grand or 2 more for a stick.
My car truly is GEEZER but it looks great and is pretty much like new. The car has the original brake pads at 80 thousand miles so it was definately mostly HW miles. It needs pads in a few thou miles.
The last 2 cars I have boughten have been the best deals I have ever gotten ever, all the Geezers are die'in off here in Geez'ville and everybody wants trucks and SUV's so I am real happy.

If you want the stick but settle for the auto you will always have that little regret in the back of your mind. I’m a new owner of a c5, found a 6speed and I’m def loving the experience of driving the car in a way I wouldn’t have if it was an auto. That doesn’t mean you have to feel same way though, get what makes you happy, not what makes others happy.

Tomikem, If that was directed at me, you should reread my post. Beyond that though, pretty sure the thread was literally asking for people’s opinions on the topic of stick vs auto.

I am going to look for a stick casually and will get one if I find the right one but I have a feeling this car will be hard to replace. I have driven it 1500 miles and everything about the car is flawless. It even came with a 3000 $ stereo. It needs tires soon and brake pads but other than that it has just been turn key and go. I had to plug a tire. I will post some pictures but it was on Car Gurus and the pictures on the net and add did not do justice for what I bought.
