Yeah, the dipstick should definitely not look like that.

Nobody seems to have a oil dipstick for a 99 ls1. from reading on this forum they are different from the 2001-2004. any ideas where to get one or a conversion.

I’ve got a dipstick from a 2000. If you validate that the 00 tube will work on your 99, I’ll gladly sell/send it to you. I converted to an 01-04 dipstick/tube when I installed headers

I tend to take care of many little imperfections like this during the winter when I cannot drive the car - usually cheap items.

I think the entire engine needs to come out for an overhaul. Shame.

I would think that the reading would be only slightly off but it bothers me the reading would not be perfect considering how important engine oil is. I cant find a oem one so Ill have to wait till I get long tubes and use one of the ones designed for that

I have long tubes and use the factory dipstick tube. Probably not the case for all LTs

from what ive read 00-04 you can use the factory dipstick with LT that's why they are different from the earlier years. at least that's what ive seen people say on this forum

Just to clarify, 01-04 you can use. Not 2000. I have a 00 and had to swap when I installed LTs.

Looks like it is designed for a V6...so I'd say probably not. You'd have to order and measure the length in comparison to your bent one to find out.
Kaden; Did you see my post from the other day when I mentioned that I have a dipstick from a 2000? I'm certain that it's the dipstick that you need. If you want it, I'll sell it to you for $25 shipped
The other option is purchase the 01+ dipstick and dipstick tube and just convert as if you installed LTs. That is the more expensive option ($100), but it's an option indeed. Here are the part numbers you'd need to order from GMpartsdirect if you decide to go that route: 12563817 (tube), 12574889 (dipstick)
