Default Corbeau FX1s on Planted Brackets Installed!

I know this isn't a new story by any means as I'm far from the first person to put these seats in a C5Z nor use these brackets to do so... However, I wanted to share how great my experience was with Planted! And, well, I want to show off my new set up because it looks and feels awesome!

First off, the guys at Planted (namely Jeff) are some of the best folks I've had the pleasure of working with in the automotive aftermarket. When I first started my research on aftermarket seats and brackets, I stumbled upon their company and found that it was local to me which was a nice perk.

Jeff spent a lot of time on the phone with me patiently answering my numerous questions... I then asked him if they could customize the base bottom mount bracket to include a second seat belt tab on the door side of each bracket (to provide a place to attach that side of my Crow lap belt) and two tabs in the back corners of each bracket to which I could bolt my sub belts for my 6-points. I expected a firm "no" but instead got a quick "sure, no problem!"

Here's how the brackets initially came out - Beautiful!

However, after I got the side mount brackets mounted and seats properly positioned, the tabs wound up being placed too far forward, causing both my factory seatbelt receptacle and 6-point lap belt to sit positioned in front of the lap belt slot of the seat and, for the factory belt, across my thighs... Plus, the tabs were so tall that my factory receptacle was sticking up way too high. As can be seen in the below photo.

Additionally, the belt tabs were a bit on the wide side and coming in contact with both my trans tunnel and the plastic trim that houses my factory belt retractor. It fit but was pressing up against both sides and, sadly, but some scratches in my trim... I did not take photos of this but you get the gist.

So, I contacted Jeff, told him what was going on and sent him some photos. He immediately asked me to bring the brackets back and, for no charge, they would relocate the seatbelt tabs to the very back of the bracket, install lower profile tabs to bring the height of the factory receptacle down and pull the tabs in to my specifications to narrow the width of the overall bracket. Apparently, they intentionally make the brackets as wide as mine were to provide as much side-to-side adjustability as possible. However, I did not need that much adjustability and preferred that they didn't contact the tunnel or trim, so they gladly pulled them inboard 1/4" on each side for me. Here's a photo of the modified brackets before they went back to powder coat (which they did again for no charge).

After getting these home, they fit like a damn glove and I was able to bolt up my factory receptacle (which now sits about as high as it did with the stock seat) along with my lap and sub-belt 6-point connections perfectly! And, due to my final seat position, the sub-belt mounting points were in the perfect place. For what it's worth, I'm 6'0" and drive fairly close to the wheel - My right knee is about 2.5" from the underside of the dash with my foot on the gas pedal.

Here's an up close photo of the sub-belt mounts (the right one isn't tightened down, so pay no attention to the position of the belt loop - I was still making adjustments):

And here are a couple of photos of the finished product, in the car! You'll notice the driver side shoulder belts aren't attached to the harness bar... That's because the seat is coming right back out in a few days to install a Tick master cylinder. But this at least illustrates how it will look when done. Very happy with the outcome and, please, contact Planted for your seat bracket needs! And if you want the specs on mine for them to replicate, just let me know and I'll help you get set up!

If you don't mind me asking, Danny, what was the cost for those brackets?

They only ran me $140 each but I believe they may typically charge a few bucks extra for the additional mounting points.
