Default CCW wheel - center caps

going to just throw this out there to see if anyone else has encountered this and what the fix might be. Just received my set of CCW 505’s today. Can’t wait to see these beauties on the car!!! Noticed that the center caps on all but one wheel isn’t stable. I can turn/spin it. The center caps aren’t coming off. They just are moveableThis will make me crazy once tires/wheels are mounted. I know I’ll hear them rattle. Anybody else have this issue? Going to call CCW on Monday but just curious on this. Thanks!

Definitely an issue. The center caps for my CCW 505’s don’t budge. I assume yours have the rubber o’ring in place?

Not seeing any O ring on the center cap. Just sent an e/m to CCW who have been great in the past. Fingers crossed it’s an easy fix!

Mine are tight, have "O" ring as well.

Good luck getting it sorted.

The O-ring should tighten it up. Post up some pics of the wheels too.

Picture of the o’ring in place on an extra CCW center cap I have. Of course the o’ring isn’t visible once the center cap is installed.

Possible they got in a batch of out of spec O rings? Hopefully not a machining boo boo! Mine are tight also

I have the same issue, my 19's the caps were tight, when I purchased my 20's I put the caps from my 19''s on the 20's as I had removed the CCW logo & I noticed the issue with the cap. I measured the new caps I got with my 20's & they were machined exactly like the ones I got with the 19's, I snapped the 20" caps to the 19" wheels & they fit snug. So I suspect the dimension between the arrows on the wheels, the dimension between where the cap mounts & the o-ring groove. I do not have the proper tool to measure that spec, & my calipers are too large to fit the hub hole, when you tap on the cap you can tell there is some play. I did not have any issues this summer, all the center caps stayed attached & and did not notice any noise at all.

Not sure if you could use a larger o-ring either diameter or thickness, you could run into a problem getting the o-ring into the cap groove or getting the cap to snap into the wheel.

Not sure what happened to their quality control, this is the nightmare I went through after the Weld buyout when I ordered my 20" rears to match my 19" fronts THEY DIDN'T MATCH due to the spoke design I was told (after I had received them) they could not be machined exactly the same, they also machined .050 too much off the backspacing & the wheels would not fit flush to the brake rotor due to the height of the bearing hub protruding through the rotor, so I run a .062 thick spacer. After a year of thought & research I decided to run 20's all around, ordered my 20" fronts & when those arrived they had the same center cap issue, the same backspacing mistake & the center hub outside diameter was .300 too big & rubbed on my caliper bracket, I returned them only to have the center hub redone. I started this project in Oct 2015 & finished in spring 2018, I love the look of the 20's so I was determined to get this done, just took a while.

Just a quick update on these center caps. Sent CCW photos and video yesterday. They recommend that I ship the wheels back in order to determine whether missing O rings or a machining issue. Waiting for shipping tags now. As much as I am completely disappointed in this outcome, I have to say that the rep I have been working with, Andrew Birkenfeld, has been very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Hope they can resolve quickly. The wheels are beautiful! Thank you to all who responded. Always so helpful here on CF!

i think if they would just ship you an oring to check the cap would have been the easiest route...

agreed! Discussed that option but rep recommended I send wheels back. Dunno. No problem sending them back although it’s a inconvenience. Just want to be sure issue is corrected. Big bucks for these beauties and I need piece of mind. Notice clearly states that once tires are mounted with wheels, I own em. Not sure CCW convinced it’s a O ring issue

Andrew is a great guy to work with he did most of the work when I had my issues, I am shocked they are having you send them back when the center caps will not snap into place without an o-ring, the o-ring is the only thing that holds it in place.

Were the center caps installed when you got them? they usually send them wrapped separately.

How much play do you have in your caps, mine I could not see them move but you could tell they were not a tight fit just by tapping on them.

Hopefully it doesn't take 3 months to get yours back like it did mine.

it best not take 3 months to get them back!!! Center caps already installed on the wheels when I received them. Only thing shipped separately were the lug nuts. I can spin each center cap around completely. Trying to figure out how to post pics. I’m getting there! Lol. The caps spin, move forward and back but I can’t pop them out unless I used a hammer or something I suppose, which I am not doing. Interesting that yours were shipped separately.

My new front CCW's arrived a couple of weeks ago and the caps were already installed on the wheels, too.

I ordered a set of SP551's when John was still in charge @ CCW and the caps came in a separate package, then.

If there is some sort of lube on the o-ring you can just pop them in by hand, & to pop them out I flip the wheel upside down & use the wooden handle on my rubber mallet & just apply some pressure & they should come right out. I should add that I do not pound on them to install or remove.
