Default Time for new tires! Stock size - Current recommendations?

Hey guys! its that time again!
Time to get a new set of tires, currently have been running Nitto NT-05.
They weren't bad, if I have to I will replace with the exact same tire again, but would like something with a little higher tread-wear as these lasted me about 1 year and 3 or 4 months of that time the car sat in the garage not being driven.
Looking for recommendations on stock sized wheels, found plenty of old threads but they're all so outdated most of the tires mentioned are no longer produced

Was running a 275-40-17 Up front but probably going to drop down to a 255-40-17 as they look massive on the car... 295-35-18 for the rear.
So far one of the only other brands I could find were the Continental Extreme Contact DW anyone tried these before? Open to any and all recommendations, thanks guys

I don't like the 275-40 look either, even 265-40 looks too big IMO.
Toyo was making the Proxes T1, but I've heard that model is getting hard to find also.
Watching, not much help sorry.

I run Continental DWS06 Extreme Contacts in stock sizes on my ‘98. Great ride, Great wear, they have 5000 miles on them and they still look new.

I run the continental dw and probably have 5k give or take on them. Good tire, decent grip and wear. Also does well if you get caught in the rain imo. It does have a softer sidewall compared to say toyos (my previous fronts, verdstein on the rear) that you can feel but it is a great tire if you actually drive your car. I would second the 255 over the 275, I have the 275 and would have got the 255 if I could have found a picture beforehand.

Edit: I'm sure most reading here know but to clarify, the continental dw is a summer tire and the dws is an all season snow rated tire with completely different tread and use.

Just went ahead and ordered my set today from Tire Rack - Continental Extreme Contact Sport $881 Free Shipping, No tax, 2 year warranty. Local shops wanted $1,200 for the same tires.

And don’t forget to register them so you can get the free 150 mile road hazard warranty which includes towing or flatbed service.

Good choice, have them on my C5 vert in 265-35-18 front and 295-35-18 rear. Wearing very well and good grip, safe in rain also.

OP - how many miles on those NT-05's?

I have the same tire/tire sizes on mine...been on there for 5 years and around 5000 miles...they don't look brand new anymore, but still a lot of tread left...

Probably close to 10,000 Miles on them, in one year. I try to drive to daily drive the car as much as I can, pretty much unless its broken down or waiting for tires.

I had the NT-05's on my ZR-1, they were okay tires. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on my Z in factory sizes, great tires but expensive. Another option are the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ in 255/40-17 and 285/35-18, they supposedly have the same amount of grip as the PS2's. You could also get another set of factory rears and run them on the front with the latest and greatest Pilot Sport 4S.

Last summer I went with non run flat Michelin Pilot Super Sports (not the 4S) in the 265/35-18 front and 295/35-18 rear sizes on a set of C6 Z06 reproduction rims on my C5 and love them.

I run Continental Extreme Contact DW on the last toy and liked them very much as well, but I think those have been discontinued.

Just installed a set of Continental Extreme Contact Sports on my 2004 Z06 in 295/35-18 Rear and 255/40-17 Front. Not fully broken in yet, but light years ahead of Bridgestone Potenza's that were on the car, car no longer breaks loose in 2nd gear at anything more than half throttle. They were about $800 cheaper than the Michelin PS2's for the set.
