I just installed an oil catch can on my '03 C5, and on the backside of the PCV hose near where the hose attaches to the front of the engine is a ground wire looking wire attached to it. The wire is attached to the block. Any idea why it would be attached to the PCV hose? Is it needed? It's caused a kink in the hose leading to the catch can because I can't get enough slack in the PCV hose. I've looked on line to see other installations on the C5 and don't see the same wire on those cars. The way it's situated I can't get a good pic to show what it looks like. HELP!!
Not sure about the heat transfer as mentioned, looks like a support bracket, I have an Elite can on my car & mine is still mounted as shown in the 1st diagram, so not sure why you would need to make any adjustments. I will post some pictures of mine when I get my camera battery charged up.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The problem I ran into is that that bracket wouldn't give me enough slack to mount the hose without a real bad kink in it. I just finished disconnecting it from the block and zip tied it to the PCV hose to keep it out of the way. It worked, no more kink. Thanks for the diagram!!

There are "urban legends" concerning the purpose of that metal band but it is for keeping condensation forming under certain conditions on the PCV valve...where the band goes into the rubber connector is a common area for vacuum leaks....happened to me !!
