Is anyone else who lives up north going crazy seeing your beloved Vette in the garage and not being able to drive it because of the weather? I don't know if I can wait another six weeks to take my baby out.

Is there a support group for those of us who have our Vettes in storage?

My friend gives me a hard time because I won't drive it in bad weather, but I bought my 2002 Z06 with 24,000 miles last March, and it obviously hadn't been driven less than optimal conditions before, and I don't want to ruin that. Even the bolts in the suspension are free from rust!

I’m going a little crazy too but I’ve been taking it out every now and then for short rides on the weekend when the salt Was minimal. Honestly just makes me miss driving it more probably.

Maybe find a winter project so you can have a little fun.

I have a winter project...but it's no Corvette.

Its an easy mind adjustment... If I drove my Corvette everyday, it would become taken for granted. Putting it away for a while is a good thing.. Its kind of like abstaining from sex.. Not good in the abstinence, but when you release the hounds, its nothing but Woof Woof… Its a simple mind game. after 20 years I still get a buzz every time I start mine. Not sure that would be the case if I drove it everyday for 20 years. Spring is just a few weeks away.
Bill aka ET

Here in Philly we do get a few days through the winter where the road conditions and weather will allow me to take it out, and at a plus of cold dense air, its something to look forward to.

I took mine out of the garage a few days ago for a healthy jaunt, and brought it back, wiped it down and tucked it back in. Put it back on life support til next time.

I used to live in Rochester, NY and I would drive my car up and down the driveway to give it some exercise. Neighbors thought I was nuts. Yeah, that's what a car nut does.

Picked mine up, in some not so nice conditions, on January 15th, right to self serve wash and slowly back into the garage where it has been sitting since. Haven't even had a chance to let her breathe due to road conditions at the time. So I feel your pain.

Yeah, I wish better weather would come around so I can get mine out of the garage and out on the road. Hopefully soon.

Not driving in the Winter, IMHO, people are just saving their car for the next owner. NOT ME! Yes, I do not drive when salt/snow/ice is on the roads. But when they are clear, I am out driving. At 75, I want to enjoy the ride now. Snowed today, 3 inches. Will be 60's on Sunday. Yes, I will be driving.

There's so damn much snow up here that I doubt it will be gone before May 15th. Oh, well, keeps the miles down.

I also live 70 miles from Rochester ( now the southern tier ) and it was 10 degrees yesterday 12 below all last week and spring is a loooooong way off. Battery tender has been on since end of Oct. When we get an odd 40plus day, I start her up , let temp come up and dream. Then shut her down, hook tender back up and lock up the barn. March 20 is first day of spring ( on the calendar )

I live in Oregon and it rains quite often here. If I never drove my Vette in rain it would hardly get driven.......so I do drive mine often in the rain but not in ice or snow.

I think I have an idea of how you feel. Here in the South, instead of too much snow, we're having an unbelievable amount of rain. I don't remember the last time we had a full day of sun.

This has been the worst winter in KS since I got my car. I usually can drive off and on all winter but my baby has been in her crib all winter! I've had enough!!!

PMS - Parked Motor Syndrome

If us down south post a pic/vid of a burnout, would that help or hurt more?

I hear you OP. I bought my '03 Z06 at end of October. Got to drive it from Winnipeg to Saskatoon (8 hours), take it through inspection, and park it. Snow came next day. Been sitting and looking at it ever since. We are going through one of the coldest February's on record - almost entire month between -20 and -40C. and the snow keeps falling.....

Salt on the roads is one thing, temp is another. Mild winter thus far in CT. Drove it last weekend with generally clear roads. Use of brine on roads has reduced muck and washes off better so if it is clear and not dusty with salt, I drive. Car is 20 years but not a Ferrari in terms of value so I’m going to use it and get my $15k worth out of it.

In winter I drive my AWD Corvette SUV

a Procharged 392 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT with Independent rear suspension

It helps a lot with the Corvette withdrawal winter blues

I don't drive mine in the winter, not to save it for the next guy, but to save it for myself. Cars don't last a long time when they are driven in Wisconsin winters. 35 below a couple weeks ago and 35 inches of snow this month. It's hard on cars. Not to mention, going into the ditch won't hurt most cars or trucks, but could easily total out a C5.
