I'm thinking about changing the color of my carpets from the faded light grey to black and I see there are quite a few vendors who sell carpet kits but most do not include the 3 pieces of carpeted plastic for the tail light section. Has anyone changed their carpets? If so, what vendor did you use? Did you use standard cut-pile or plush carpeting? Do you have any recommendations? And if you changed the color, what did you do to change the color of the 3 pieces of carpeted plastic for the tail light section?
The replacement carpets are advertised as direct replacement, more or less, but they are not! The carpet is not the same as original, the binding is nowhere near original quality, and the molding is not, not, not from the original molds.
A far better option would be to hit VetteNuts or similar used vendor for actual O.E. carpet in the color you want. The pieces will actually fit, and there are some exceptional low mileage offerings out there.
ACC, Auto Custom Carpets has nice, new, molded carpet sets that fit very well. Their TruVette carpet matches quite well to the factory carpet. They are located in Gadsden, AL I believe. Check out their site as they actually have several different choice and make complete sets. You can find them on Ebay as well. I have purchase from them several times. Just make sure to order the carpet with the mass backing for a factory fit.

ACC carpets are sold by StockInteriors.com.
I changed the black carpets for one that goes with the pewter exterior. They offer about 23 colors. I did get the mass backing, which makes them stiffer and the backing does have a smell which takes it’s time fading. The fit is not exact. I used the original pieces to cut to fit, but one must take time to realize certain pieces, because they are not symmetrical. I used a variety of methods including clamping pieces together, using a laser level, and obsessive measurements. I got the standard cut pile and I’m very happy with the way it looks and wears.
The binding on the exposed areas is not as good as original but ends up being hidden. I also wouldn’t bother with the floor mats since the driver’s side is not long enough so it moves around.
The 3 tail light sections are fine, and fit well. The flat areas need a good contact cement so they stay in place and lay flat.
I have ACC. Other than the incredibly poor quality of the binding common to the parking brake lever, the molded in crease in the passenger foot well, and the burns in the material straight out of the box, it's exactly what I wanted for a $500+ lesson. That said, if you are sold on ACC, OC Carpet had the best price I was able to find: https://www.ocautocarpets.com/produc...te-coupe-mass/
Red, wow, my binding doesn’t look like that. Sorry to see it. Any of the molded creases can be changed with a heat gun.
My carpet was in perfect condition on the top surface. Sorry to read that.
