Default Climate Control question

Can the base HVAC control be changed to the electronic dual control easy or are more changes necessary other than the dash control itself?

There are different climate housing components between the two. There's the ambient temperature sensor. There has to be a control module, it could be part of the BCM in which case you would need the correct one as well. With the manual you don't have to worry about the lights dimming and then going out completely.

I wish I had base control, less to break. I can control temp on my own just fine.

Oh, it could probably be done, but I would hate to see what is involved and the cost for the conversion.

Not economically feasible. Technically it can be done, you would need a donor car for the heater core box, wiring and other parts I am forgetting. Then you need a shop to take apart the interior. A tech2 and a programing subscription from GM to program the BCM for the dual zone option. Probably missing a few items here. This would not be worth the effort.

My 98 had DZ CC and it was the nicest feature on the car.

What is it that goes wrong anyway? I replaced a door actuator and soldered the head unit. Am I missing something about the difficulty with these systems? Why would I want to mess with the temp when the car will do it for me.

Just like I said, you had to do repairs to make it work properly

yeah but these repairs are really easy for anyone with opposable thumbs. The Work is worth not having to look at the ugly manual temp control.

If these are not easy repairs, you're probably not the guy to ask in this thread. Op appears to at least be open minded to more than just oil changes if he'd even consider adding DZCC.

I have a 01 Z06 and the outside temperature reading is about 10 degrees off, too low. Is there an adjustment that can be made to correct this or would a new senor solve the problem? Everything else on the electronic duel control is working fine, I did have to replace some of the lights and all the LEDs.

That sensor is dirt cheap and 10 min to install (including lifting the car). But if you've got a wiring problem to it, that would be another issue. I'd swap it out and see if that resolves it.

Just as an aside, you could also check to see if the ground at that sensor is actually ground. If it's above 0Vdc, that will cause the error you are describing also. If that's the case, you need to check the ground connections for that circuit and make sure they're making good contact.
