I looked at a C3 just before Christmas and it had a ZZ383 crate. That was a sweet sound'n piece, probably a little more suited to the C2 the OPs neighbor has. He also had a Tremec M5 and a new rear w/some fancier clutch, I forget which. It was a real clutch though. When I started it up it felt about like my LS7.
OP, you hit the jackpot on the neighbor. Count your blessings cause there's a boatload of em out there coulda made your life significantly worse.
My neighbor saw my C5 after he moved in and promptly bought one. Kept it for a while, then traded it on a year old C7. Both autos, so they don't count.
