Default EBCM question.

I welcome all responses, though this question is directed specifically at Bill, (Evil Twin)
Having been one of the folks involved in the production of the C5, I think he would be the go to person for an answer regarding the EBCM

Would it be possible to do away with the system, and what would that involve?

From what I read the EBCM for our C5's is no longer produced, so should it become dysfunctional, the only recourse would be to fine one from another vehicle, and perhaps that one could also be on it's way out also.
Just curious what would be involved in having the vehicle operate with out this computer onboard.

It would help a lot knowing what year your Vette falls under....98-00 or 01-04

01-04 and your not going to have a problem getting it rebuilt should it fail.

98-00 can be converted to 01-04 provided your skilled enough to do it or have someone do it for you.

No reason for you to contemplate getting rid of the system all together.

Thankfully nothing is wrong with mine, just wondering what one would have to do to do away with the system completely, and still not compromise the operation of the car.
Mine is an 04, which you state could be rebuilt if necessary, and that is great, but I am just curious if the system could be done away with, by making some sort of modifications.

Do away with it, and you lose ABS and Active Handling if I recall correctly, and you will have warning lights on your dash. Nothing else will be affected.
