Default Work in progress

I've had my 2000 FRC for almost a year now. I've gone though most of the basics so far....all fluids, alignment, plugs and wires, lowering bolts and sway bar ends, LED turn signals, rear Bilstein shocks, Dual cone air filter, even new racing seats. This past week I replaced all the rotors and pads with R1 drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads, and painted the calipers. Did the suggested break in and all seems good.

I know this is all small potatoes compared to most on the forum.....I used to be under my 58 Ford constantly when I was a teen-ager but then life happens and you get away from working on cars allot. I have done a fair amount on my motorcycle in recent years, but I haven't worked on a car much until I got my C5. Not that I really enjoy crawling under cars that much, but I do like to do things the right way.....Will have a Borla cat back exhaust by the end of the week....

I'm not an expert by any means in the brake department, are you sure the front rotors are on in the right direction? I have similar looking rotors that were shipped with location stickers on them and it would have the front rotors going the same direction as your rears.

Beautiful car none the less. I always enjoy your posts.

Mr. Black- Thanks!!
I thought someone would ask that question. I did confer with the manufacturer several times on the direction of the rotors. The front rotors have the directional vanes as in the diagrams from 6speedsteve. You'll notice from his cutaway diagram that the drilled lines are opposite the vanes inside. That's how my fronts are. I confirmed the direction with the stamped numbers on the rotors four times with the manufacturer.

The rear rotors on the other hand have cast studs all over between the plates and are not directional. I had installed the rears first according to the stamping, but then when the fronts seemed opposite, that's when I started calling the manufacturer. I even went back and rechecked the stamping's to be sure. Turns out since they are not directional, they can go on either way. Since the rears are such a pain with the 125 pound torque and difficult to get leverage, I decided to leave them as they were. Only Mr. Black would notice.... LOL Hope all the info on this thread will help others in the future.

As nice of a stance as I've seen with thin spokes. Any idea how far down you went? Stock bolts or aftermarket?

Thanks. I have the stock bolts up front lowered all the way. I have the lowering bolts for the front. Might get ambitious and swap them out someday. Don't want to lower much more in the front. I have the lowering bolts in the rear. They are set to the highest they will go, which is just slightly lower than the stock bolts will go. I measure from the ground to the center of the fender wells with a large T-Square. I've found the bolt adjustments may be slightly different to get the same fender height on right and left sides.

Thanks Jack.....As you can see, it's very stock on the outside, even the wheels. Per my description, I'm trying to keep everything in good working order with a few mods here and there, but nothing crazy. I really like the car pretty much as it is. I will be doing the Borla Cat back exhaust this week. I don't like the look of the stock pipes. I'm hoping the Borla S Cat Back won't be too much louder????

Hey don't be so hard on yourself. Looks great. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Remember you got a life out there besides your Corvette. Cheers Bro, Rob

Got my Borla cat back S type exhaust on today. Looks way better than the stock. I may have to get used to the sound. Definitely a deeper tone, a little louder at some RPMs, way louder at some and about the same as stock cruising along. The big difference is the burbling and poping on deceleration....not sure I'm crazy about that. The loudest, maybe even a little drone is close to 3,000 RPM under acceleration. I'll see how it goes with some time.
