Today I did the plugs and wires on my 04 m6. And I got to tell you it was harder then I expected. The back plug was a pain but the hardest part was getting the old wires off. Lots of battle scars on my hands getting them off but got it done.
Yeah, a bit of a knuckle buster job. Hard to get the plug wires off if they haven't been off for a while. I put some dielectric grease on the new wires to hopefully make it all easier in the future.

You need to get yourself a boot puller tool. Well worth the investment. It's not so much for when you are changing the wires but if you'd like to take them off without damaging them so you can put them back on, then they're really nice.
If you have a pair of channel locks with nice new grippy Jaws, you can grab a hold of the boot with them and then use another pry bar to gently pry them back rather than pulling for all your worth with your hands and smashing them against every sharp edge in the engine compartment.
Haha. 3 hour spark plug change on my 46K mile, 2004Z with OEM plugs and wires. Two and a half hours pulling the %#$#$#$ wires off the plugs, a half hour actually doing the plugs.
PS The Snap on double jointed spark plug socket makes the #7 plug easy.
Not to hijack but, what plugs did you use OP? I HAVE a set of ac delco iridiums and gm red wires waiting to go on, just didn't know if anyone has another preferance.
NGK TR55. NGK's are the preferred plug for most tuner shops out there. I plan to change every 25K miles, plugs are cheap, and copper gives you a hotter spark at the expense of longevity.
My car was going to the shop so I was lazy and just asked them to do it. MSD wires, same plugs as before (probably TR6 for the MP112 unit, but I forgot to ask), and katech socks.
