Default New Wheels winter mods

Got new wheels, 18" all around. 18 x 9.5 front, 18 x 10.5 rear w Nitto NT05's 275 35 front, 295 35 rear. Also new NRG steering wheel and RSD snap short throw shifter. The wheels are cheep but I like them, didn't want to spend 3000. for new wheels. These only weigh 1lb 2oz more than my thin spoke stock wheels in the 18 x 9.5 size, they also balanced out with little weight and run straight. The Nitto NT05's are a little disappointing on traction so far but then it hasn't gotten over 50 yet, maybe when it's warmer they will stick better. I love the shifter, the square bottom steering wheel takes getting used to, wish I had gotten round but it's still nice, big improvement over stock.

I like the steering wheel and rims but don't you run a risk running without a airbag? I'm pretty sure your insurance company would not like that.

Where did you get the weight info on the wheels? I didn't see it on the link. Or did you weigh them yourself?

Nice improvements. Everything looks really good. I have some concern about no airbag but if you have a five or six point harness set up I guess its all good.

Rims look good and go well with AE Red and the Black side skirts and top.

I have a digital scale for shipping that goes up to 100lb The stock thin spoke wheel 18 x 9.5 weight was 22lb 3oz and the new wheel same size was 23lb 5oz I didn't weigh the 18 x 10.5 because I had nothing to compare it to.

Thanks for the note on the air bags, I didn't really think this through, I'll call my insurance company tomorrow and see what they say, if it's a no I'll have to go back to stock. I saved the wheel and air bag so I'm glad I did. I really like the NRG wheel though. I actually hate air bags. A friend of mine was driving on the interstate and hit a huge pot hole and his air bags deployed breaking his nose and temporarily blinding him while he was going 70 mph down the hwy, it was pretty scary. I really don't believe air bags are all that safe, but I've got to follow the law on this and make sure.

If you wreck at 50mph you’ll wish you had the airbag. Too late then.

Maybe I should never get out of bed in the morning, maybe it's just safer to never drive, driving a corvette is part of the thrill of being on the edge at least a little otherwise you might as well live in a safe and never come out. With that supercharger have you ever street raced? Just saying, thanks for the comment though.
