Fought with the C5 (2000) TPMS today. Maybe someone can help me understand...
All four sensors were working, but the right rear always read 9 pounds too low. So I bought a ne sensor for the RR, had it installed, and had the sensors reprogrammed. Now LF is OK, RF is OK, RR (replaced) is OK, but LR shows nothing. Tech couldn’t get the horn to beep on LR after several tries.
Now I get a Service TPMS message on startup.
LR sometimes displays as Lxxx and sometimes as L followed by spaces.
Dont understand why two different displays and don’t know whether the solution is to purchase and install another new sensor for LR.
what do you think?

Reason: Should have said “LR after several tries”
Thank you for your note. The new sensor is a Schrader 28006 which I believe, but I’m not certain, is OEM. In any case, the new sensor replaced the malfunctioning sensor in the right rear wheel and is now functioning properly. The current problem is the left rear wheel I.e. the fourth to be programmed. It’s currently showing as Lxxx or merely L.
BTW, here’s some more info that might be informative.
I attempted to reprogram all sensors on my own. I have the round magnet that fits over the valve stem. After getting to the proper area on the DIC and after getting the message to start at the left front wheel, I placed the magnet over the left front valve stem and waited for an indication from the horn that the first sensor was reactivated. I re tried this several times with no success.
Schraders are good, did mine 2 years ago, all four. https://www.tpms.com/28006_Schrader_...10_p/28006.htm
If they are old, chances are they are failing, coincidence??. Try going back in tire learn and and skip the LF and go around to see if others take relearn.
Sometimes these dont register a number until you go for a ride but all should sound the horn to acknowledge registration.
I’ll try that but I thought that whenever programming you had to start at the left front and that there’s no way to skip to the next tire until the first was activated.
Yes, it starts at left front and that’s how I did them. It might not allow you to proceed to the next tire but worth trying before replacing them. I read about someone doing it here in the past.
Anybody have Type 1 TPMS they don't want?
I have a 98 vert and Costco didn't have the right replacement sensors. I called local Chevy dealer. Parts manager yelled when he saw the price: $276. EACH!

Sounds like you may have to replace LR also but i would have the place you went to program the sensor before it is mounted in the tire. That way you know it will work. Hopefully they can get the other 3 to program at the same time.

You need to find another dealer - no way do the sensors cost $276 each. That is more like a price for all four for the earlier style sensors. Check with one of the forum vendors - you’ll find a good price for the one that you need.
