Default Double Din - Glare Washes Out Screen

I just installed a Double Din radio in my 99 C5 Coupe ( jvc kw-v940bw)

I LOVE this stereo and it has so many fun bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, I can not see the screen in daylight. The daylight glare from the sun completely washes the screen out. I do not have a convertible either.

I'm sure everyone out there with a Double Din has this problem ?

What did you guys do to eliminate the glare ? It is absolutely impossible to see "anything" on the screen and if you are navigating or looking for music, it is extremely aggravating.

Please tell me what you guys did to fix this issue.

Thanks

By the way, this stereo does not have a tilting screen option.

What screen do you have?
Is there a sensor you have covered?

Almost any screen will do this if the sun is directly on it. Is this with the top off? Window tinted?

I've not experienced this at this time with my current Pioneer but I have before in other cars with other head units.

I don't drive this car much with the top off and my windows are very dark.

I use this product and it works well for me.

They will likely have pre-cut pieces for your make and model

Thanks Jim,

I emailed them today and they didn't have the antiglare protector for my model so they asked me to measure my screen. I measured the best I could with a steel tape measure and sent my approximate measurements to them. My model number is JVC KW-V940BW...… I'm wondering if my screen size is the same size as the JVC KW-V840BT (which they have a cut size for) ??? JVC claims both of these models to have a 6.8 inch screen size .

So before using this nushield product, did you have the same issue that I am having when driving in daylight with a completely washed out screen that you can see NOTHING at all on ? Everything is OK when I go into my garage but not when the sun shines through the large, rear hatchback window up to the dash / radio.

The screen on my Kenwood was having problems with glare. It was worst in the standard viewing angle but my Kenwood has a motorized display that you can set at several different angles. With the Nushield anti-glare and a different angle on my screen it is much better than before. Not perfect, but very usable.
Does your head unit allow you to modify the brightness of your screen, is so try full brightness during sunny daytime.
I also have tinted windows side and rear and that also helps.

I have not had any issues with screen being washed out in my coupe but I have a heavy tint in the rear window and the max legal tint on the side windows. I’ve had my double din radio for like 5 years now. Not sure if you want tinted windows but I believe this is why I’ve never suffered from glare on my screen.

I also have the legal max tint on my 03, but the limits vary widely from state to state. And while it helps, it did not prevent enough of the glare on my KW without changing the display angle as well as the antiglare film on my display.
For me, the antiglare film was worth the cost

What brand of antiglare film works for you ?

I don't want to tint my windows. It compromises my vision.
