Default Questions about Forgestar CF5's

After much mental debate I have decided to go with Forgestar's CF5's. I'm torn on the finish at the moment, but have narrowed it down to either Brushed Silver, Red, or matte black (I have a black C5 base with red accents throughout). Most likely going with a 18/19 setup. Also, I do not plan on going to a Big Brake Upgrade if that helps. So I do have a few questions...

1. How wide in the front should I go? Back? Also proper tire sizes to use?
2. As far as offsets what should I go with? Totally clueless on what to do here. (most sites ask for this)
3. Bolt Pattern to go with?
4. Should I get them clear coated?
5. Where should I get them from? I don''t want to ruffle feathers here so if you could PM the best place/price I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again for all your help and opinions,

J

I can help, stock sizes are 8.5" in the front & 9.5" in the rear how much wider do you want to go?

The 18x9.5 & the 19x11 will fit if you want that width, need to know that before getting offsets, & see what tires are available for the size & width, you want.

The bolt pattern is 120.65mm

They with be either color powder coated or if brushed finish they will be a clear powder coat.

in the front you have 3 options

Semi Concave18″
18×8.5 offsets from +10 to +50
18×9.0 offsets from +16 to +56
18×9.5 offsets from +22 to +62

In the rear you have 3 options

Deep Concave19″
19×9.5 offsets from +10 to +50
19×10 offsets from +16 to +56
19×11 offsets from +29 to +69

If it were my car, I would go with either Silver or Gunmetal, in a gloss finish. Matte finish is porous and will absorb brake dust, making them a biatch to clean. Brushed is nice but is a $600 option

I would go with an 18x9.5 front, with +48 offset, or a 19x10 w/+56 offset. My preference would be the 18x9.5 w/+48 as that spec will give you the option of stock or bigger brakes. As for tires, either a 265/35/18 or 275/35/18 will work well, on the front. As for rear wheels and tires, a 19x11 w/+54 offset and 305/30/19 tire will fit these cars, like a glove.Lots of excellent tires are available, in the three sizes mentioned.

As Steve already mentioned, bolt pattern is 5x120.65. (5x120 is NOT the same)

Depending on wheel finish chosen, the wheels will be clear powdercoated.

I pm'd you the name of my CCW dealer, who also sells Forgestar wheels.

Brushed silver or comp gray would be a good choice in finishes.

I'll throw my vote in for silver. Im not personally a fan of black on black, plus the silver will show those nice wheels off and provide a contrast.

I would look at 255/40/18 & 285/35/19 for those rim sizes, the overall diameters would be 26" & 26.9" your sidewall heights would be almost identical F & R, need to watch the overall width of some tires as they may be wider than others. Forgestar rims have somewhat aggressive offsets meaning they protrude outward more than you may want, keeping the tire overall width as close to the overall rim width will minimize the amount of tire poking past the fender line, you can also add more camber but is not what some want to do.

I sent Forgestar a request for the max offsets available, will post it when I get it to give you some idea of fitment.

Here is a thread about Forgestar F14's that has pictures & info some of what is posted here is what you may experience with certain offsets.

A 19x11 CCW with +54 offset will fit the same, as a Forgestar with +54 offset. It will not poke any more or less. Both wheels have the same amount of backspace and the same width, outside edge to outside edge. They are obviously different looking wheels but wheel specs don't change, just because of the wheel brand. As for Forgestar's aggressive offsets, they offer a wide range of the same. On a 19x11, for example, any offset from a +54 to a +61 will work. The latter offset would be my choice, if you want to fit one of the really wide 305's (Michelin 4s) or one of the narrow 325's (Nitto Invo). My CCW 19x11's have a +54 offset and with my Hankook 305/30/19's, fit almost flush with the outer fender.

I don't see where I said that the specs change based on the manufacturer, as for Forgestar the specs listed are not available for all vehicles, the offsets for C5's in 19x11 in the research I am seeing are all +53-55 which I see as aggressive, I also read that Forgestar told a Forum member that they would not go any more than +55. When I purchased my CCW's I did not like the offsets they had & requested my own spec's which I was able to get, which on an 11" rim was +67 or 8.650 BS, front 10" rim was +63 or 8" BS & with 1/2 deg of negative camber puts the rim flush to the body, that was the max BS I was able to get.

Here is the info I got from PK Auto Design that came from my request at Forgestar

For the C5 platform we can do the following Front: 18x9.5 ET 49 Rear: 19x11 ET 53

I asked about 18x9 & 19x10
A friend is looking at 18x9 & 19x10 for C5 corvette, are those sizes available?
They can yes sir

Info from Forgestar
Our 18 by 9 CF5 ranges form +16 to +56, we typically do 18 9 +43 for C5 for the front and our 19 by 10 CF5 ranges from +16 to +56, we typically do 19 by 11 +53 for the C5, we do not do 19 by 10.

When I sent my request for offsets I said what is the max available for C5

Well, Steve, as I see it, it's one of two things going on, here. Either, Forgestar has been publishing the wrong numbers on their website or PK is giving out incomplete info.

I agree, some confusing info here, I would be curious to see what info other distributors have for specs on these wheels.

Even when I did the order for my 19's from CCW back in 2013, John was very reluctant to give me his wheel specs.

John didn't want to give that info to me on my 94 ZR-1's wheels, either. However, it's not rocket science to figure it out so when my wheels arrived from him, I measured the backspacing and from that, figured out the offsets.

My CCW SP500's were made, in 2005. When I bought the car, last year, I was given all kinds of documentation and one thing was the original sales invoice, from John. The offsets weren't spelled out directly but I figured out his codes.

So to help the OP Justin who wants 18x9 & 19x10 what are the offsets or multiple offsets that are available to fit his C5?

As you can see from the response I got from Forgestar 19x10 is not available, so we have conflicting information.
