Default Memory seat, and steering wheel

I disengaged the memory feature for the steering wheel, and seats on my 04 because sometimes it worked, and sometimes not.

Is there a way to get the steering wheel to stay in the telescopic position permanently without re-activating the memory feature?
I liked the idea of not having to reach to far to have a good grip on the wheel.
I can move the seat forward, but then leg room suffers.

Move your steering wheel all the way forward and then hit memory

Sorry wrong info, I think you have put the steering wheel in the position that you want first then press memory.

What you are suggesting means I would be activating the memory system again.
That is what I am trying to avoid, and still have the steering wheel closer to me in the telescopic position.
I don't want the memory system activated, because , as I stated , sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't..
I would just like to have the wheel closer, without having the memory set.
Is this at all possible?

Try setting the steering wheel in the position you want and then set the memory. Then go into the DIC and turn the easy exit feature off. That may do what you are looking to do.

Jack, will that turn off the Memory feature because that's what I would prefer to do?

For what it’s worth, I just had my 2 DOOR CONTROL MODULES repaired and all of my seat, steering wheel, lock / unlock issues are solved...

I turned it off, and the wheel is still retracting back toward the dash, once the key is removed,so that when I start the car, I have to once again move the wheel forward manually.
How is it that once the memory system is turned off, the wheel won't stay in the telescopic forward position?
What is "telling " it to retract back into the backward position, with the memory system deactivated?

The next thing I tried was enable the system, set the seat, wheel, and mirrors where I wanted hem, then disabled the system.

Nothing changed except instead of the seat, and wheel moving at start up, I have to adjust them every time I get in the car, as well as the passenger mirror.
What is it that allows the system to put the seat, mirror, and wheel out of the settings I made just before disabling the system?
This one really has me baffled.
