If you live near a Menards they have a 30 pack of jumbo microfiber towels for $9.99. They are high quality and 16x16 inches. I bought a pack last week and they are so good I figured I should stock up and bought another package today. I should be good to go for a few years now.
I wouldn’t use fabric softener sheets on detail towels.
Agree. Not sure how good laundry detergent on microfiber towels is either...I can't lie, I like buying this stuff along with all the other detailing stuff!
What ever my wife was using to wash the microfibers was making them water proof . Not to good for drying stuff. They now get washed alone and with detergent only. Wish we had Manards around here.
I wash mine alone, few a few drops of liquid dish soap, removes contaminants and doesn't add the extra crap they put in laundry detergents to the microfiber. Dry on low/delicate
edit: I do not use the 0.33 cent each ones on the paint.,..wheels and interior only...( and those are kept/washed separate)
Like stated below...I use the $3-$6 each ones on the body.....yes I will wash those and reuse.
At 33 cents a piece I will only use them once on a car body. I need two per waterless wash and wax, so that would be 30 "washes". When done I will wash them and use them for other detailing needs, interior, windows, wheels, etc

Personally, I would never use those garbage towels on the paint of any of my vehicles. Those would be only used for any tasks other than touching the paint. However, for those of you who do, let me give you some advice:
a) At just $0.33 per towel, I recommend either throwing them away after you use them, or just dedicating them for use on windows, interiors, wheels, etc. The towels I use are between $2.50-$6.00 each, so I keep those.
b) If you DO decide to keep the towels and wash them, do NOT use regular scented laundry soap. If you don't want to buy dedicated microfiber soap, the only laundry soap to use is something like All "Free and Clear", which contains no perfumes. You can add some distilled white vinegar to the soap dispenser to boost performance. Wash in warm water with a cold rinse. Tumble dry on either "low" or "fluff". Or hang them out to air dry. Heat kills microfiber, and the fabric will become coarse. And do NOT use fabric softeners of any kind.

Garbage towels? I did not know there was such a thing as a towel expert. I have already used them to remove wax and polish my car. They are excellent. I would rather use a new cheap towel than an old expensive towel.
$2.50 to $6.00 a towel? LOL. There really is one born every minute.

Hey man, don't knock FYRARMS. He knows his stuff, especially when it comes to detailing cars.
I also use 16" x 16" premium Eagle Edgeless 500 microfiber towels from The Rag Company. They are made of 100% Korean Split Microfiber (70% Polyester & 30% Polymide). They are pricey, but I usually buy them in bulk during a 25% off w/free shipping sale. Well worth the cost IMO, especially if you enter car shows regularly.
