Hi
I just installed new tires and Rims. I bought them already used. 1500 miles on them. Private Sale. The tires I put on are firehawk Indy 500
The tire pressure on my door says 30psi cold
What would you guys recommend the tire pressure should be for best results
the front tires say 50psi max
the rears tires say 51psi max
I owe a 2002 corvette
thanks
Lower pressure will generally increase contact patch and heat, and thus wear. If you're slabbing it and just cruising, pump a few psi extra and don't worry about it. You won't notice the marginal change in traction unless you're nearing limits IMO
I'm in a fairly cold climate so I do 30 PSI with a gauge. The dash sensor usually shows 29 when I start out. After driving for a while they can read 31 to 33 PSI. So temps can affect the readings. The wheel sensors may vary slightly and tire gauges can be all over the place. So you kind of have to average things based on all your readings.
If they are not the same as original, the door sticker may no longer be accurate. The inflation recommendation for PSI should be on the tire itself, but lots of folks will run there favored PSI. But generally speaking slightly higher pressure results in better mpg. But may affect handling. So find the best that works for how you drive within the normal PSI on the tire itself.

No. The tire does not tell you the correct PSI. The tire tells you the maximum PSI for which the manufacturer rates it.
I believe the tire pressures posted on the door frame apply to original tire/wheel combos. If you have something different, say 18”/19”, check with the tire manufacturer and see what they recommend.
Subscribed for the runflat question. I use to run about 32 in the rear with Hankooks but wore the centers faster than the rest of the tire, so I now run around 29 cold.
OMG. Geez! Read the door sticker! GM knows what's best for the car! This is not rocket science. You are making a simple issue into a court case. Do what the manufacturer says. They are a lot smarter about the cars they build than we are. Case closed!
