Default LED Interior Mods

I had gone through my current coupe and converted the interior to red LEDs. Not a throwback to Pontiac at all, but a nod to night driving and being easy on the eyes.

Before I go through the new Z and do the same, I am wondering if there are red LEDs available which have less luminosity relative to the factory dimmer ****.

The HUD / DIC bulbs which were aimed straight at the driver were stronger than I preferred. Not annoying or problematic, I just would have preferred them to not be so strong relative to the gauge cluster. All the other locations in the cabin.. door controls, TC, fogs, etc seemed to be softer. Perhaps the medium they sat behind was thicker?

I have read to try sanding the bulbs to diffuse the light, and I will try that this time. I'm just wondering if there is a specific LED neowedge type B which is not blindingly brilliant.

There are a few forum vendors that deal in LED lights - I would bet you know who at least some of them are. Maybe get in touch with them and see if they can steer you in the right direction.

It primarily has to do with the directional nature of LED lights. A possible option might be to use dimmer LEDs (like ones using the 3528 or 5050 chips) on the HUD/DIC and brighter LEDs (like 3014 chips) in the peripherals.
