I have a set of the 55 watt ACA replacement hid headlights from Radioflyer. They work great and are a very good replacement for the dingy stock lights.
After 5 years, but not much usage, one of the ballasts has died. I tried changing the bulb and it didn't work, and the unit doesn't "buzz" like the working side. So I'm pretty sure it is the ballast.
I didn't see replacement ballasts on Radioflyer's website. I sent him a message thru the website to inquire but got no response.
Question is, for those of you that have had to replace one of these ballasts, what did you use? Being that it is a bit of a pain to get to them, I don't want to install a garbage replacement.
Below is a picture of the current unit, it is a Model S500 but not sure who makes it. It is a silver metal finned unit with a black plastic box on a short wire. Thanks!
Morimoto is the brand you want. Models change yearly. 55w replicates factory. It's what George recommended to me when I had issues with a junk kit from a vendor which sounds like Vorcette Pods.
I'm about 90% certain that when I got my kit from Radioflyer, it came with Acme ballasts. Morimoto is one of the best aftermarket HID manufacturers. Have 2 cars going on 3 years with Morimotos without a ballast failure.

I agree. I purchased my ballasts and other electrical components from the Retrofit Source.
For those who've used the Morimoto replacement ballasts in a C5 retrofit application... the bulb wires plug right into the igniter instead of the igniter having leads that attach to the bulb wires. Did you have to use those separately available "ballast output extensions" to make the wires reach? I'm going to mount the new ballast where the old one is in the picture above - on that shroud right behind the light bucket.
The Morimoto ballasts use standalone igniters, while the Acme stuff have igniters hardwired in. The standalone igniters have about 6 inches of cabling on each side.
