C5 Z06 Tire question
- All things considered, I landed on the General GMax with 255/40/17 front and 295/30/18 rear. Kind of an odd combination.
- I could have gone for the 275/40/17 front, but the diameter for the 275 fronts was almost an inch larger than the 295/30/18 rear. I don't know if that matters, but I decided to try to even out the diameters rather than having the front substantially larger.
- I could have gone with the 285/35/18 rear, but it's a little on the narrow side, plus a pair of them was $30 more than the 295/30/18s. It has a larger diameter than the 295s, which would have let me go with 275s in front and had a roughly equal diameter, but then the front would have been wider than stock, the back would have been narrower than stock, and both the front and the back would have been more expensive than what I ended up doing.
- From the reviews I read, I expect these tires to be good in wet and dry, not usable in winter, and a little unsure on the track, at least compared to other UHP tires.
- So far, I'm into the set of 4 tires for $530 (net of the $70 rebate which expired 4/30) but I still need to get them mounted.
- They look more performance oriented than I expected. The last picture is them stacked next to the Nitto NT05s they are replacing.
- Yes, I overthink things.
thanks!
